My alone time with the Lord

So I got a journal about two weeks ago, and I really had it just sitting there. I didn't know what I was going to put in it because I knew I wanted it to be important. I wanted it to be THE journal, if that makes sense. I had such an awakening from God the other day, and the best way I can put it is I was in a bad situation (I'll do a separate post because it was amazing), and He sent two Christians to really help me out, two complete strangers, that, because they follow Jesus, took the time out of their day to really help me. I was so impressed by their knowledge and their relationship with God, and I really wanted to have their happiness, especially their selflessness. I was thinking hard. I am a single mother to a beautiful daughter with special needs. I don't really have much time to myself to really focus on what fills my cup, only because I need to make sure my daughter's is filled (which I know everyone says you need to fill your cup in order to fill others). I just can't right now, I guess. So, it finally hit me that I can have time for myself once my daughter goes to bed. Normally, I would just go to bed once she does because I'm exhausted. I realized if I can do something for myself for a half hour a day, then maybe I can start filling my cup. So, I stumbled into the journal again, and I thought of my situation that happened the other day and how I almost yearned for their connection relationship like I said to God, and I decided I was going to use the journal to actually write letters to Jesus as if I'm sitting in a room with Him and talking to Him. I can't tell you the more I'm doing it, the more I want to read the Bible, the more I want to know Him and His word, the more I'm feeling such positive energy and love, and wanting to really follow Him and be as close to Jesus as I can. So every night, I'm gonna do a half hour, and I'm going to write a letter to Jesus. I think this is a good idea because my daughter can have this when she's older and she can read them. So I think I'm gonna start filling my cup. #butgod #christiangirl #fillyourcupup #jesuslovesyou #godiswithyou

... Read moreHey beautiful souls! Following up on my journey of finding quiet time with the Lord, I wanted to share more about how this practice of writing 'Letters to Jesus' has truly become my daily spiritual anchor. It’s more than just journaling; it's a dedicated space, a 'meaningful time alone with Him,' as I always remind myself. Like on 'day 1' when I simply wrote 'Thank you Lord,' it began with gratitude, and it continues to evolve. If you're looking for ways to cultivate 'mindful Christianity' in your busy life, this is it. It’s about being present with God, pouring out your heart, and listening. I often start by simply acknowledging His presence, then sharing my day, my worries, my joys, and my prayers. It’s like having a constant, loving conversation. This mindful approach helps me strengthen my relationship with God, even when life feels overwhelming. For those of you seeking 'daily devotional verses with explanation,' I've found that my journaling naturally leads me to Scripture. After writing my letter, I often open my Bible and ask God to show me what He wants me to read. A verse that has resonated deeply with me recently is Psalm 46:10: 'Be still, and know that I am God.' In our hurried lives, finding that stillness, even for just 30 minutes, is crucial. I meditate on the verse, asking myself: How can I be still today? What does it mean to know Him more deeply? This isn't about complex theological interpretation; it's about personal application. Another powerful one is Philippians 4:6-7, which reminds us not to be anxious but to present our requests to God, and His peace will guard our hearts. I literally write these requests in my journal as letters to Him! Have you ever considered a '40-day challenge' for your spiritual growth? I’m actually thinking of starting a '40-Day Letters to Jesus Challenge' soon! Imagine the spiritual depth you could achieve by dedicating just a short time each day to this practice. It doesn't have to be perfect; the goal is consistency and intimacy. Pick a specific time, even if it's just 15 minutes after the kids are asleep, and commit to showing up for your appointment with God. You'll be amazed at how quickly your faith blossoms. And finally, about 'beautiful feet' – a phrase from the Bible (Romans 10:15) often referring to those who bring good news. While my journaling is deeply personal, I believe that as our relationship with God grows, our lives naturally become a testament to His goodness. Our peace, our joy, and our transformed perspective can inspire others without us even trying. We become 'beautiful feet' simply by walking closer with Him, and sometimes, sharing our journey – like I'm doing now – is the most impactful way to spread His love. Let your deepened faith radiate and be a light to those around you!
