The Cleveland Arcade
My first time visiting the Cleveland Arcade! It is insane how massive this place is! And it was empty so we got to take some fun shots without a crowd which was nice. I thought there were going to be some shops and restaurants (which would make this place even cooler!) but apparently there is a hotel on the second floor which would be so cool to stay in! I would love to see this place at night all lit up!

You know, when I first heard "The Cleveland Arcade," my mind instantly pictured flashing lights and classic video games! But let me tell you, this place is so much more than that. It's truly a historic architectural marvel, nicknamed "Cleveland's Crystal Palace," and it’s a must-see for anyone exploring downtown Cleveland. I was so glad I decided to be a tourist in my own city and discover this gem. For those curious about its history, The Cleveland Arcade was actually one of the first indoor shopping arcades in the United States, opening its doors way back in 1890. Its stunning Victorian-era architecture, with a magnificent five-story central atrium topped by a glass skylight, is just breathtaking. You can spend ages just looking up and admiring the intricate ironwork and the sheer scale of the place. It really makes you appreciate the craftsmanship of that era. I can totally see why queries about "arcade architecture" pop up – it’s a living museum! While it's not a spot for modern "arcade games Cleveland Ohio" or "pinball near me" (unless you count the charm of exploring a historical site as a game!), it offers a unique experience. There aren't many shops left, as I noticed during my visit, but the atmosphere itself is the attraction. It’s perfect for a quiet stroll, taking some incredible photos, or simply soaking in the grandeur. If you're looking for "downtown Cleveland pictures," this is definitely a prime spot. The natural light filtering through the glass roof is just magical. I got lucky with no crowds, which made for some amazing, unobstructed shots. One thing that really caught my attention, and which I mentioned briefly, is the hotel located on the upper floors. It’s the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade. Imagine staying in such a historic and iconic building! I can only dream of what it would be like to wake up there, or better yet, to see the entire structure "all lit up" at night. I bet it transforms into an even more enchanting space after dark, offering a completely different vibe than my daytime visit. It's definitely something to consider if you're planning a trip and want a unique accommodation experience in Cleveland. So, if you're searching for "Things To Do" in Cleveland and are keen on exploring historic landmarks rather than a "video game arcade near me," make sure to add The Cleveland Arcade to your itinerary. It's a fantastic indoor adventure, perfect for a rainy day or just when you need a dose of architectural beauty. It's a reminder of Cleveland's rich past and an impressive example of turn-of-the-century design. Don't forget your camera!
