❌ 0/10 ~ This is the Kora Organics Turmeric Face Wash & Foaming Cleanser. I did NOT finish this product! I used it 3 times before I had to stop using it. It burns my face SO bad! I don’t know if the one I got was expired or what, but I couldn’t use it at all! It didn’t make me break out but it burned my face horribly. It had kind of a menthol burn to it but I’m not sure if that’s an ingredient or not. Turmeric is supposed to help with inflammation but this only made my skin red and inflamed even more. I’ll never purchase this again. #skincare#empties#november#productreview#didnotfinish

... Read moreAfter my surprising and quite painful experience with the Kora Organics Turmeric Glow Foaming Cleanser, I wanted to share some thoughts that might help others navigating skincare, especially when a product doesn't quite live up to its 'CLEANSE & BRIGHTEN' promises for 'ALL SKIN TYPES.'
First off, it's really disheartening when a product marketed for beneficial ingredients like turmeric, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, ends up causing irritation. Turmeric is indeed a powerful antioxidant and can be great for brightening and calming skin, but formulation matters immensely. Sometimes, other ingredients in a blend, or even the concentration of an active, can be too much for certain skin types, or even a batch variation can lead to issues.
When a cleanser, or any skincare product for that matter, causes a burning sensation, it's a huge red flag. My immediate thought was, 'Is this normal?' And the answer is almost always no, especially a severe burn. This could indicate a few things:
A damaged skin barrier: If your skin's protective barrier is compromised, even mild ingredients can feel irritating.
Allergic reaction or sensitivity: You might be sensitive to a specific ingredient. Even natural ingredients can cause reactions.
Product pH imbalance: Cleansers should ideally be mildly acidic to match your skin's natural pH. If a cleanser is too alkaline, it can strip your skin and cause irritation.
Active ingredients: Some active ingredients, like certain acids, can cause a tingling sensation, but a burning feeling is beyond that.
So, what should you do if a product like the Turmeric Glow Foaming Cleanser causes your skin to burn? The first and most critical step is to stop using it immediately. Gently rinse your face with cool water to remove all traces of the product. Then, focus on calming and hydrating your skin with gentle, barrier-repairing products (think ceramides, hyaluronic acid, soothing oat extracts). If the irritation persists, or if you develop a rash or severe redness, it’s always best to consult a dermatologist.
This experience really highlighted the importance of patch testing. It's something I sometimes skip when I'm excited to try a new product, but for anything new, especially a cleanser with active ingredients, applying a small amount to an inconspicuous area (like behind your ear or on your inner forearm) for a few days can save you a lot of discomfort. It's a simple step that can prevent a full-face reaction.
Ultimately, while the Kora Organics Turmeric Glow Foaming Cleanser promises a lot, my personal journey with it was far from glowing. Listening to your skin is key. If it's telling you something isn't right, trust that feeling. There are so many amazing cleansers out there, and finding one that truly cleanses without compromise is worth the search!
