This is the Tree Hut Cotton Candy Shea Sugar Scrub.
I have one that has “Barabe a Papa” (I’m assuming just this is just supposed to be a Spanish version of the usual product) written on mine, and I found it at T.J.Maxx. I LOVE the Tree Hut body scrubs! They are the best ones on the market. That being said, I have no idea what was wrong with this one. It was way rougher than the other scrubs, and it like clumped together, and wouldn't spread out evenly. It didn't even smell like the regular cotton candy scrubs they have. Maybe this one was expired when I bought it, I don't know. But the formula of this particular one was so off. It literally hurt my skin. It was too rough and felt like it was scraping my skin rather than gently exfoliating it. I've never had this happen before and I was so irritated because I love the Tree Hut scrubs, and I usually find really awesome body scrubs at T.J.Maxx. There was just something wrong with this one. I usually am scraping every last drop out of these containers, and I didn't do that with this one, I couldn't wait to be done with this.

I've always been obsessed with Tree Hut's Shea Sugar Scrubs, especially their famous Cotton Candy scent. It's usually a delightful, sweet treat for my skin, leaving it feeling incredibly soft and smooth. But after my recent experience with the 'Barbe à Papa' version of the Tree Hut Cotton Candy-Barbe à Papa Shea Sugar Scrub, I felt like I needed to share some tips that I've learned the hard way about these scrubs, especially when you find them at discount retailers like T.J.Maxx. Finding a great deal on a cult-favorite product like the Tree Hut Cotton Candy Shea Sugar Scrub feels like hitting the jackpot, but sometimes, a deal can be too good to be true, as I unfortunately discovered. My recent purchase of the Tree Hut Cotton Candy-Barbe à Papa Shea Sugar Scrub turned out to be an utter disappointment. Firstly, while Tree Hut scrubs are known for their effective exfoliation, they should never feel like they're scraping your skin. If you encounter a product that feels overly abrasive or harsh, it might be a sign that something is off with its formulation, or perhaps it's an older batch. A good sugar scrub should dissolve slightly as you use it, leaving your skin soft and smooth, not irritated. The 'clumping' issue I faced is also a significant red flag. Tree Hut scrubs are usually well-emulsified and spread easily across the skin. If it's clumpy and difficult to spread, it could indicate changes in the product's consistency due to age, improper storage, or even manufacturing inconsistencies. When you're shopping for your favorite Tree Hut Cotton Candy Shea Sugar Scrub, especially at stores like T.J.Maxx, it's always a good idea to check the packaging carefully. Look for any signs of tampering, or if the product inside looks discolored or separated. While Tree Hut products generally have a long shelf life, expired products can lose their efficacy and, worse, become irritating to the skin. The smell is another key indicator. The Tree Hut Cotton Candy scent is distinctive and deliciously sweet; if it smells 'off' or significantly weaker than usual, it's a good reason to be cautious about the product's freshness or authenticity. If you do end up with a Tree Hut Cotton Candy Scrub that feels too rough, don't just throw it away immediately! You can try a few hacks to make it more usable. Sometimes mixing in a few drops of a nourishing oil, like jojoba, almond, or grapeseed oil, can help to soften the texture and make it less abrasive. Alternatively, you could try using it on less sensitive areas of your body, like your feet, where tougher exfoliation might be desired. Always patch-test a new or questionable product on a small, inconspicuous area of skin first to ensure there's no adverse reaction. My love for Tree Hut scrubs hasn't completely faded, but this experience definitely taught me to be more vigilant. The Tree Hut Cotton Candy-Barbe à Papa Shea Sugar Scrub has such a great reputation, and I've enjoyed many other variants from the brand. It just goes to show that even beloved brands can have an occasional miss, or perhaps certain batches aren't up to par. I'd still recommend Tree Hut, but with the caveat to always check the product thoroughly before use, especially if you have sensitive skin. Happy scrubbing, and here's hoping your next Tree Hut experience is much smoother and sweeter than mine was!
