Then, I go in with the pyrography pen, starting with outlines and then moving to shading. Patience is key here – you can always burn darker, but you can’t un-burn! Once the burning is complete, protecting the artwork is crucial, especially if the board is going to be ridden. I typically apply several coats of a clear, water-based polyurethane sealant. This not only protects the wood-burned skateboard deck from wear and tear but also enhances the artwork, giving it a beautiful finish. Even if it's just for display, a good sealant helps preserve the art for years to come. It's been such a rewarding journey seeing these custom wood-burned skateboard decks come to life.
