And once it moves… that piece of time is gone.
You know how the light comes through your blinds and it makes those little lines or dots across furniture?
Like what you see in the photo.
That was from this morning.
At first the light was more to the left on my dresser. Then a few minutes later I noticed it had moved to the right. So I decided to just sit here and watch it for a few minutes.
And I caught myself thinking…oh wow, I just watched time move.
We can feel time go by, but you can’t always see time go by. I mean when we haven’t seen someone in a while, we can usually see the time on their face.
But this was different.
This happened within minutes. I literally watched time move across my dresser.
We talk about feeling time go by all the time.
We say things like, “Wow that felt like forever,” or “How has it already been five hours?”
But how often do we actually see time go by?
I just watched it.
Minute by minute.
Quietly.
Time doesn’t just pass in the big moments of life.
It’s passing in the quiet ones too.
Right now.
While we’re sitting here.
And seeing it like that made me think…
how much of our lives do we spend on things that don’t actually matter?
Arguments. Stress. Holding onto things that drain us.
Because whether we notice it or not…time is still sliding across our lives the same way that sunlight slid across my dresser this morning.
And once it moves…
that piece of time is gone.
