Rating my job!

Can you guess what’s my job? LOL
You guessed correct! I am a teacher.
Been teaching for 9+years and it is a very rewarding job! The best thing about my job is being able to really make a difference in my students lives. When those “ahhhaa” moments occur I get excited! The worst thing about my job is taking work home. Teaching is work! I find myself taking work home because of my dedication and I have 4 little ones and a husband home so sometimes it takes away from it. It really helps to establish a work life balance system from the start and stick to it! Not all environments are the same but my school culture is great and it makes doing my job even easier. Salary has gotten better for teachers…starting in NYC is about 70+k and you go back and advance your education you get a salary step (increase).
There are options available for you to enter the classroom if interested ..teaching collaborative (teaching fellows) is an option..that’s the route I took..and I love it. If you have the passion for educating..go for it!
Comment any questions you have or if you need help with starting your teaching career.
Teaching is more than just a job; it's a lifelong commitment to shaping the minds of future generations. With over 9 years in the field, I've witnessed countless ‘aha’ moments that bring joy to both students and educators alike. The teaching profession has evolved, especially in urban areas like New York City, where starting salaries can exceed $70,000. As passionate educators, many opt to join programs like teaching fellows, which pave the way for new entrants into classrooms. These collaborative initiatives offer mentorship and training designed to enrich the educational landscape. Balancing a teaching career with personal life can be challenging, but implementing strict boundaries helps maintain sanity and effectiveness. Moreover, establishing a supportive school culture can enhance job satisfaction, making it easier to embrace the challenges inherent in the teaching profession. The journey of a teacher is filled with opportunities to contribute to the community while experiencing personal growth. If you're considering entering this fulfilling profession, know there are resources and communities available to help guide you along the way.
