... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to share a deeper dive into what my barber journey has really been like. Looking back, that initial thought of becoming a barber felt huge, especially as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field. But the passion was undeniable, and I knew I had to go for it. My first few months felt like a whirlwind. It wasn't just about learning how to hold clippers or use a straight razor; it was about understanding different hair textures, head shapes, and, most importantly, listening to what clients truly want. There were definitely days I felt totally overwhelmed. I remember one haircut early on where I just couldn't get the fade right, and I felt so discouraged. But my mentor always reminded me that "it’s all part of the process," and every mistake was a learning opportunity. That really stuck with me. Being a female barber comes with its own set of experiences. At first, some clients would hesitate, or even ask if there was a male barber available. It was tough, but it fueled my determination to prove myself through my work. Over time, I’ve found that many clients actually appreciate the unique perspective and attention to detail I bring. Building trust has been key, and now I have a fantastic base of regulars who come back because they know they'll get a great cut and a comfortable experience. It's incredibly rewarding to see someone walk out feeling confident and fresh because of something I created with my hands. Beyond the cuts, there's so much more to it. I've learned about professionalism, running a business, and constantly refining my craft. I invest in good quality clippers, trimmers, and shears – they truly are an extension of my hand. Keeping them clean and well-maintained is crucial for precision and client safety. I'm always looking for new techniques, watching tutorials, and attending workshops to stay on top of trends and continuously improve. The learning never stops! If you're thinking about starting your own barber journey, whether male or female, my biggest advice is to be patient with yourself and persistent in your practice. Find a good mentor, embrace every challenge, and never stop learning. It's a demanding career, but the joy of transforming someone's look and seeing their smile is truly unmatched. This journey has taught me so much about skill, resilience, and the power of pursuing your passion. It's been an incredible ride, and I'm excited for what's next!
