Bemo just turned one, and it feels like just yesterday he was a tiny puppy. Seeing him all grown up – well, a year old is still pretty 'bby' to me! – makes my heart so full. He's a pug, and honestly, they have the biggest personalities packed into those small bodies. Bemo is full of snorts, wiggles, and so much love. If you're thinking about getting a 'bby dog,' especially a pug, be prepared for endless entertainment! They’re known for being incredibly affectionate and just want to be wherever you are. Bemo follows me from room to room, often just to flop down near my feet and snore gently. One thing Bemo absolutely adores is his blankets. You might have noticed him cozily wrapped in a soft, light-colored blanket with those cute purple and orange floral patterns in the picture. That’s his absolute favorite! He has quite a few, but that one seems to be his go-to for nap time. It’s funny how they find comfort in certain things, isn't it? When he's all snuggled up like that, with just his little pug face peeking out, he looks so angelic. It really melts my heart. For anyone who's a new 'bby dog' parent or thinking of becoming one, here are a few things I've learned with Bemo during his first year. Pugs, being brachycephalic (flat-faced), need special attention to their breathing, especially in warm weather. And those adorable wrinkles? They need regular cleaning to prevent skin issues. It's a small effort for such a big reward – his happy little face! Training has been an adventure! Bemo is smart, but sometimes he can be a bit stubborn, which I hear is common with pugs. Consistency is key, and lots of positive reinforcement. He loves treats, so that definitely helps! Socialization was also super important when he was younger. Getting him used to other dogs, people, and different environments made him such a well-adjusted and friendly pup. His energy levels are a mix. He has bursts of playful zoomies, then he's ready for a long nap, usually under a blanket! Short, regular walks are perfect for him. He loves exploring but isn't built for long, strenuous activity. And of course, keeping him at a healthy weight is crucial for his joints and overall health. Having Bemo has brought so much joy into my life. Every day is an adventure, filled with laughter and unconditional love. If you have a 'bby dog' pug or any other breed, I'd love to hear your stories and tips too! What's your favorite thing about your furry companion?
