like yes, they should use a normal amount of caution and obviously everyone when doing a sport should have a coach, but y’all need to calm down just a little tiny bit… #ballet #figureskating #pointeshoes
From my personal experience, the fear surrounding pointe shoes often feels exaggerated. Yes, these shoes require proper technique and strength, but with the right training, they are not inherently dangerous. Many beginners worry about injuries, but a knowledgeable coach will ensure you build foot strength progressively to avoid common issues like blisters or strain. It's crucial to remember that both ballet and figure skating demand respect for your body's limits. An effective coach can guide you on how to condition your feet and posture to minimize risks. While caution is necessary, over-caution or fear can actually hinder progress and enjoyment. I’ve observed that when dancers take small, consistent steps in training, focusing on proper alignment and foot care, they often perform with grace and confidence. In contrast, jumping into pointe work too quickly without sufficient preparation is where problems arise. Additionally, it’s important for dancers to listen to their bodies and communicate openly with their coaches about any discomfort. Proper fit and maintenance of pointe shoes also play a big role in safety. So, while pointe shoes should be treated with the respect they deserve, they are far from being as dangerous as some might say. Balancing caution with confidence and guidance can open doors to mastering these beautiful disciplines without unnecessary fear.
hey i’m a dancer and they truly are very very dangerous shoes. You can break, tear, and fracture your ankle if you even roll up into wrong. You do genuinely need so much training to even get to that stage. You are basically supporting your entire body weight on the tips of your toes in papier-mâché. If you keep going on point and you don’t have the right training you can permanently damage your joints and tendons. We’re trained to make it look easy and effortless. It’s so incredibly dangerous and painful so even go up on pointe let alone do turns and leaps in them. It’s a full body workout to even go up onto pointe.
