จากประสบการณ์ตรงของผมในการเลี้ยงเข็มปัตตะเวียแดง ต้องบอกเลยว่าเป็นไม้ดอกที่เหมาะกับคนที่ไม่มีเวลารดน้ำบ่อยๆ หรือมือใหม่ที่เพิ่งเริ่มหัดปลูกไม้ดอกจริงๆ เพราะน้องเข็มนี้ทนแล้งได้ดีมาก แค่รดน้ำวันละครั้งก็เพียงพอแล้ว นอกจากนี้ ผมพบว่าแสงแดดจัดคือปัจจัยสำคัญที่ทำให้เข็มปัตตะเวียแดงออกดอกสวยและดก ไม่มีช่วงหยุดพักตามฤดูกาลเหมือนไม้ดอกทั่วไป ทำให้บ้านหรือสวนของผมมีสีสันสดใสตลอดทั้งปี ที่น่าสนใจคือถ้าปลูกในพื้นที่ที่ได้รับแดดรำไรหรือตอนเช้าเย็นอาจจะไม่สามารถช่วยให้ดอกมีสีแดงสดเข้มได้เท่าไรนัก การปรับแต่งรูปทรงต้นก็เป็นไม้ดอกที่ยืดหยุ่นมาก ผมลองปลูกใส่กระถางเล็กวางตามมุมบ้านเพื่อเติมแต่งชีวิตให้สดชื่น และครั้งหนึ่งผมทดลองปลูกลงดินเพื่อตัดแต่งเป็นแนวรั้วสวน เข็มปัตตะเวียแดงก็ขยายตัวได้ดีมาก ช่วยสร้างบรรยากาศสวนที่ดูมีชีวิตชีวาแบบสไตล์วินเทจ เรียกได้ว่าทำได้ทั้งสองแบบตามสไตล์และพื้นที่ที่มี สุดท้าย ผมขอแนะนำให้ตรวจสอบเรื่องการระบายน้ำให้ดี อย่าปล่อยให้น้ำขังเพราะจะทำให้อาจเกิดโรคราได้ง่าย เลือกดินที่ร่วนซุยระบายน้ำดีจะช่วยให้น้องเข็มมีสุขภาพดีและออกดอกสวยสดได้ตลอดปีจริงๆ
