College Summer Jobs!! Nanny edition

Finding a summer job when you’re back home from college can be difficult. My favorite summer job is nannying. It is fun and easy, but also has its challenges.

Ways I have found families to nanny for are : care.com, Facebook pages from my local and surrounding towns, and sittercity.

My technique is reaching out to everyone!! I start out by saying, “hi! My name is Trell. I have 5 years of experience and would love to get more information about your family’s needs! Looking forward to hearing back from you”. These couple of sentence got me 12 interviews!

Out of 12, 4 offered me a job. Don’t be discouraged when you aren’t offered a job it is just apart of the process.

During the interview- be yourself!! Talk about your experience and your passion to work with children.

To find families in need of nannies, popular platforms include Care.com, Facebook local groups, and Sittercity. When applying, personalize your outreach message; for example, a friendly introduction about your experience can go a long way. Share your genuine passion for working with children during interviews, as this can help establish a connection with potential employers. It's important to remember that not every application will result in a job offer—a process of interviews is common. Stay persistent and don't get discouraged. After all, each interview is a chance to learn and improve for the next opportunity. Many successful nannies recommend networking as much as possible to increase your chances. Use social media to connect with other nannies or explore local community boards to discover new opportunities. A proactive approach will put you ahead in securing your ideal summer job!
