Lunch today is pizza for most of us, waffles for Laney because she’s keeping us on our toes… and yes, we’re homeschooling this year. ❤️
I’ve spent hundreds of hours researching, second guessing myself, making pros and cons lists, and thinking through every possible outcome. My brain genuinely felt like it was going to explode. But the second we made the final decision, I felt something I hadn’t felt through the whole process… peace.
At the end of the day, I just want what’s best for my babies. I truly believe this is the right path for our family, and I’m so excited to see where this adventure takes us.
Are any of you homeschooling this year, or have you thought about it?
Choosing to homeschool my children has been one of the most significant decisions I've made as a parent. Like many, I grappled with doubts and questions: Would I be able to handle the responsibility? Could I offer the right balance of education and freedom? How would this affect our family dynamics? One surprising aspect was managing the daily routine. While most of us had pizza for lunch, my daughter Laney chose waffles, keeping things unpredictable and fun. This variety symbolizes the flexibility homeschooling provides, allowing kids to have a voice in their day. Researching curriculum options was intense. I spent countless hours comparing educational philosophies, resources, and online communities. The process involved making pros and cons lists to anticipate how homeschooling could impact academic growth and our family life. It was mentally exhausting but necessary for confidence. Ultimately, surrendering control and embracing trust in this path brought me peace. My primary goal has always been to create the best environment for my babies' growth—academic, emotional, and social. Homeschooling offers a chance to customize learning to their unique needs and pace. For those considering this journey, I recommend connecting with other homeschooling families, trying various resources, and allowing yourself the grace to learn along the way. The adventure is as much about growth for the parent as for the child. So, are you considering homeschooling? Have you started your own journey? Sharing experiences can build community and support during this transformative adventure.
