This is my monstera plant 🥰

When I first got this plant, I dreamed of seeing those big, vibrant green leaves with deep fenestrations, and after some trial and error, I've finally achieved a truly healthy Monstera. It's such a rewarding experience to watch it grow and produce new foliage. One of the biggest secrets to getting those amazing fenestrated leaves, like the large, healthy ones you see on my plant, is consistent bright, indirect light. My Monstera absolutely thrives near a window where it gets plenty of ambient light but no direct sun. Too much direct sun can burn the leaves, while too little light can lead to smaller leaves and fewer, or even no, fenestrations. I've noticed that as my plant has matured and received optimal light, the fenestration stages have become more pronounced with each new leaf spear emerging from the stem. It’s truly fascinating to watch a tiny, rolled-up spear unfurl into a giant, split leaf! Watering is another crucial aspect. I've found that letting the top inch or two of the soil dry out completely before watering thoroughly works best. I always check the moisture level with my finger. Overwatering is a common pitfall and can lead to issues like root rot, often indicated by monstera leaves turning yellow. If I ever see yellowing, I usually check the soil moisture immediately. If it feels too wet, I might even gently unpot the plant to check the roots for any signs of mushiness and allow them to air out before repotting in fresh, well-draining soil. Ensuring your Monstera deliciosa is in a pot with good drainage is non-negotiable! As my Monstera grew taller, I realized it needed support. Learning how to stake Monstera plants was a game-changer. I opted for a moss pole, which mimics its natural climbing habit and encourages larger leaf growth and more fenestrations. It also helps the plant maintain an upright, bushy shape rather than sprawling everywhere. Observing the different Monstera growth stages, from those tiny first leaves to the massive, mature ones, has been incredible. Each new leaf is a little victory! Finally, don't forget about humidity! Monsteras love a humid environment. I sometimes mist my plant, especially during drier months, or place it near a humidifier. Keeping the leaves clean by gently wiping them with a damp cloth also helps them photosynthesize efficiently and keeps them looking their best. These simple steps have helped me cultivate a truly thriving Monstera that I absolutely adore!
