It can be frustrating when others act like they know everything when in fact, they don’t have the full picture. This is especially true when people jump to conclusions or spread misunderstandings just because they want to know a bit more or are curious. One way I’ve learned to cope is by focusing on what I can control—my reactions and my own story. When those around me make assumptions, I remind myself that their opinions do not define my reality. I also try to communicate honestly and openly, but I’ve accepted that not everyone will take the time to listen. Additionally, I’ve found benefit in setting boundaries about what I share and with whom. Not everyone needs to know all the details of my life. Sometimes, keeping things private prevents inaccurate assumptions from forming. If you find yourself in similar situations, try not to let others’ misunderstandings weigh you down. Instead, focus on your own goals and well-being. Trust in your own experience and growth, no matter what others might speculate. Remember, it’s okay to be private and keep parts of your life to yourself. As the phrase I recently came across says, "When people wanna know what’s going on in my life and then make assumptions because they don’t know shit," it’s a reminder to value your own perspective above unfounded opinions.
