To be honest, this is his first haircut and yes I did ball my eyes out and no I don’t know when he will get more taken off and nor does it matter. To him, this is what he meant so we showing you a little snippet of a boys #firsthaircut
Okay, so watching my little guy get his first haircut was way more emotional than I ever expected! As a mom, you build up these milestones, and then BAM, they happen, and you're just a puddle of tears. If you're a #boymom getting ready for this big day, or maybe you've already been through it, here are a few things I learned and some tips I wish I knew beforehand! First off, when is the best time for a boy's first haircut? Honestly, it's different for everyone. Some start super early, some wait until their toddler years like I did. My little one was 3, and while he was excited, there were still moments! The key is to wait until they can sit somewhat still and understand simple instructions. You don't want it to be a traumatic experience for either of you. Preparing for the Big Snip: Talk it Up: I started talking to him about getting his hair trimmed a few weeks before. We watched some cute videos of other kids getting haircuts (which might be where the 'POV a boys first haircut' vibe comes from!). It really helped normalize it. Practice at Home: We even did some pretend haircuts with a toy comb and scissors (blunt ones, of course!). This made him feel more comfortable with the idea. Distraction is Key: Bring their favorite snack or a small toy. For us, a tablet with a favorite show was a lifesaver. Anything to keep those little hands and minds busy! Choose Wisely: We went to a salon that specializes in kids' haircuts. They often have fun chairs (like cars!) and stylists who are super patient with wiggly toddlers. This made a huge difference 'vs first haircut' experiences I've heard from friends at regular salons. During the Haircut: It's totally normal if they get a little nervous or squirmy. Just try to stay calm and reassure them. The stylist should be used to it! Don't be afraid to take a short break if needed. My little guy needed a quick snack break halfway through. Afterwards: Celebrate! We made a big deal out of his new 'big boy' haircut. And, of course, I saved a tiny lock of hair. It's such a precious keepsake from this special milestone. It's okay to feel all the feels when your little one gets their first haircut. It's a sign they're growing up, and that's both wonderful and a little bittersweet. But trust me, you'll cherish those memories (and maybe the cute new look!) forever. What were your experiences like?
