I promised you a full breakdown of the itinerary so here you go!
Traveling through Japan for 12 days is an unforgettable experience that perfectly balances cultural immersion, culinary adventures, and shopping escapades. Starting in Tokyo, I was amazed by the vibrant cityscape, from the bustling neighborhoods of Shibuya and Shinjuku to the serene Meiji Shrine nestled in the heart of the city. One tip I learned early is to utilize the efficient rail networks like the JR Pass, which makes travel between cities like Mt Fuji, Hakone, Osaka, and Kyoto smooth and budget-friendly. At Mt Fuji and Hakone, the natural beauty was simply breathtaking. Swimming in an onsen with views of Mt Fuji was one of the highlights for me—it’s a quintessential Japanese experience combining relaxation with stunning scenery. Don’t miss the Hakone Ropeway for panoramic views and the chance to explore Owakudani’s volcanic valley. Osaka, known as Japan’s food capital, truly delivered on the promise of “yummy eats.” From street food stalls in Dotonbori offering takoyaki and okonomiyaki to quaint local restaurants, the flavors were incredible. Shopping in Osaka brings a mix of trendy boutiques and traditional markets, perfect for picking up unique souvenirs. Kyoto offers a deep dive into Japan’s rich cultural heritage with its numerous temples, shrines, and traditional tea houses. Exploring Fushimi Inari Shrine’s iconic torii gates and the tranquil Arashiyama Bamboo Grove allowed me to connect with Japan’s history and nature. Overall, this itinerary is designed not just to see key landmarks but to savor the essence of Japan—from the urban pulse to natural wonders and culinary delights. Planning your trip with a mix of sightseeing, food adventures, and shopping ensures a well-rounded adventure.
