People often ask, "Why do authors write stories?" For me, it's a mix of passion, a need to express myself, and a desire to connect. It’s a journey of self-discovery as much as it is creation, and the thought of someone reading my words and being moved by them is a huge motivator. Then comes the actual process of "writing a book." It's not always glamorous; in fact, it's often a messy, exhilarating, and sometimes frustrating endeavor. It starts with an idea, a spark, that you just can't shake. For my latest project, 'Finding Me Part 2,' that spark came from wanting to continue a story that clearly wasn't finished. I begin by outlining – sketching out the main plot points and a rough "table of contents" to guide me. This helps me stay on track, even when the words aren't flowing easily. Then, it's about showing up to the page, day after day, even when imposter syndrome whispers doubts. There are days of pure creative bliss where chapters seem to write themselves, and then there are days where each sentence feels like pulling teeth. But the commitment to the story and the characters keeps me going. Editing, revising, and getting feedback are crucial too; they polish the raw creation into something beautiful and readable. It's truly a labor of love. Now, about the exciting part: publishing! After all that hard work, seeing your book come to life is an incredible feeling. I'm so excited that 'Finding Me Part 2' is currently in the works, being processed right now through Lulu.com. I've already dropped part 1 on Lulu.com, and I'm really happy with their platform. I always carefully consider my publishing options, and while many authors use Amazon KDP, I’ve found that with Lulu.com, you do receive more change on them than you do on Amazon KDP. This difference in royalties can be significant for independent authors. I'm eagerly awaiting my first book shipped to me in a couple of weeks, and I can't wait to share the finished product with you all! It's such a thrilling phase, moving from writer to published author. It's a testament to persistence and believing in your story.
