... Read moreOne of the most underutilized yet powerful features on the iPhone is the ability to recognize text within photos, which Apple calls Live Text. I personally use this feature daily, especially when handling documents, receipts, or capturing information from signs or handwritten notes. Instead of manually typing out details, you simply open a photo, tap and hold the text to select it, and then choose to copy, translate, or search the text online. What’s great is that this feature works seamlessly across many languages and scripts, making travel or learning a new language much easier. For example, I once used this feature to instantly translate a menu written in Japanese while traveling, which saved me a lot of time and guesswork. To get the best results, make sure your iPhone is updated to iOS 15 or later, as earlier versions don’t support Live Text. Also, good lighting and clear photos improve text recognition accuracy. Don't rush the process; letting your iPhone analyze the photo for a moment helps ensure it captures all the text correctly. Aside from text, this trick also lets you search for relevant information related to the content in your photos, whether it’s an address, phone number, or event details, directly improving productivity. It’s incredibly useful for quickly saving contact info from business cards or copying ingredients from a recipe photo. This trick is part of what makes iPhones so intuitive and powerful for everyday tasks, and once you start using it, you'll wonder how you managed without it. Make sure to practice the tap and hold gesture on photos with any text, and explore the options like Look Up and Translate to expand your phone's capabilities even more.
