The Mirror vs. The Heart
As a biblical counselor, I know the struggle of balancing outward appearance with inward surrender. This morning, as I looked in the mirror to check if I was “put together,” a deeper question stirred in my heart: Am I spiritually ready to pour into others today?
When life feels heavy, and you’re serving others while quietly carrying your own struggles, it’s easy to feel inadequate. But here’s the reminder I need just as much as you do:
God’s grace is not just endless—it’s active.
It’s what holds you when you feel like falling.
It’s what equips you to counsel when you feel empty.
It’s what transforms both you and those you serve.
How do we achieve this balance of giving while also being filled?
1️⃣ Heart Check: Before you serve, pause. Pray Psalm 139:23-24: “Search me, O God, and know my heart.”
2️⃣ Surrender Daily: Lay your struggles at His feet before trying to carry anyone else’s.
3️⃣ Cling to Truth: Meditate on 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
4️⃣ Rest in Him: You’re not called to have all the answers—point others to the One who does.
When we let God tend to our hearts first, He works through us to tend to others. So, today, as you check the mirror, don’t forget to check in with Him. Your heart matters, friend.
