You’re both looking for something that neither of you can seem to find. I wonder if this is resonating with someone. #relationships #fyp #ex #breakup #relationship
After a breakup, it’s incredibly common to find yourself repeatedly checking your ex’s social media stories. From my personal experience coaching many people through relationships, this behavior often stems from a search for peace or understanding that neither party has fully found yet. We tend to hope that seeing what our ex is up to might somehow change our feelings or give us the closure we desperately need. One thing I’ve noticed is that this repetitive checking usually doesn’t bring the peace people expect. Instead, it can create a cycle of emptiness and yearning because it’s almost like looking for answers where there are none to be found online. This reflects a deeper emotional state — both you and your ex might be looking for something intangible, some form of reassurance or resolution that exists beyond any social media update. Recognizing this pattern is the first step to breaking free from it. When you notice yourself instinctively opening your ex’s stories, pause and reflect on what you’re really searching for. Sometimes it’s about missing the connection or the hope that things could be different. But understanding that scrolling through these stories won’t repair the underlying feelings can help you redirect your energy. Instead, focusing on your own healing process—whether through journaling, talking with a trusted friend, or engaging in activities that bring joy—can be transformative. Creating new experiences and gradually detaching from the habit of checking your ex’s social media can foster inner peace and help you both move on more healthily. Remember, the need to check their stories repeatedly is a sign that there’s unfinished emotional business to address, not necessarily because of them but because of what you need. Being gentle with yourself, allowing room for healing, and understanding the emotional emptiness behind the action can empower you to regain control and find peace within yourself.
