🌱 Step 1: Define Your “Why Not Me?” Moment

Most meaningful careers begin with frustration.

Think back to a moment that made you angry, confused, or obsessed.

•When did you realize the system was broken?

•When did you feel left out, unheard, or misdiagnosed?

•When did you say: “Why is no one doing something about this?”

✍️ Mini Exercise:

Write down 1 moment that made you say: “This needs to change.. and I think I could do it differently.”

This is the root of your future job. Mine was:

“Why are non-verbal patients expected to prove their pain to get care?”

🧠 Step 2: Create Your Personal Intersection

The sweet spot of your career isn’t a title. It’s a Venn diagram of your core values, skills, and curiosities.

Draw 3 overlapping circles labeled:

•What I’m Good At (skills, talents, soft skills)

•What I Care About Deeply (issues, communities, causes)

•What Fascinates Me (tech, design, science, business, etc.)

✍️ Mini Exercise:

Fill in each circle. Where they meet is your career niche.

For me, it looked like this:

•🛠 Skills: Writing, research, building digital tools

•❤️ Values: Health equity, accessibility, youth agency

•🤓 Fascination: AI, behavioral design, language + non-verbal cues

→ Result: Public health AI tools + Gen Z career clarity platform

🧭 Step 3: Build Your Personal Thesis Statement

If someone gave you a TED stage tomorrow, what would your opening line be?

Create a sentence that captures who you help, how you help them, and why it matters.

This becomes your compass for choosing internships, networking, building your brand, or launching something of your own.

✍️ Mini Exercise:

Fill in the blanks:

“I help [audience] solve [problem] through [method], because I believe [core belief].”

Here’s mine:

I help underserved patients and Gen Z creators access clarity and care through AI-powered tools, because I believe tech should make people feel seen, not ignored.

🧩 Bonus Prompt: What Job Doesn’t Exist Yet, but Should?

Make a list of 3 roles you wish existed.

Then go see how close you can get to building or becoming one of them.

I used to feel completely lost when it came to my career, like I was stuck in a fog with no clear path forward. But then I broke it down into three simple steps: Reflecting helped me understand what truly drives me. Exploring opened my eyes to possibilities I never considered before.
