Scrubs free but still healthcare

When most people think of a healthcare job, they picture scrubs, stethoscopes, and hospital shifts. But here’s the twist: I’m in healthcare… without any of those things 👩🏻‍💻.

I’m currently studying Public Health at ASU while building an AI startup for healthcare. My focus? Creating tools that help non-verbal patients (like those with autism, stroke, or traumatic brain injuries) communicate their pain and needs in real time.

So while I don’t wear scrubs, my “uniform” is basically:

– Pajamas and slippers 🩴

– A laptop stacked with sticky notes 💻

– Coffee that never leaves my side ☕

– Research articles + code tabs open at the same time 📚

It’s healthcare… just behind the screen instead of in the hospital.

👉 Any guesses what my exact role is? Comment below ⬇️

However, modern healthcare includes diverse roles that do not require traditional medical attire but are equally impactful. For example, those involved in public health and healthcare technology play a vital role in improving patient outcomes and accessibility. One innovative area is the development of AI-based tools designed to assist non-verbal patients—such as individuals affected by autism, strokes, or traumatic brain injuries—to express their pain and needs more effectively. This advancement not only enhances patient care but also helps caregivers and medical professionals make informed decisions faster. Pursuing a career in public health combined with AI entrepreneurship allows professionals to work remotely while contributing to significant changes in healthcare delivery. Such roles typically involve extensive research, coding, and analyzing data to create solutions that bridge communication gaps for vulnerable populations. This healthcare approach highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary skills, such as programming, data science, and health education, expanding career opportunities beyond the conventional clinical settings. Professionals in this space often balance research articles and coding alongside practical coffee-fueled workdays, showing a blend of technical and compassionate work. In summary, healthcare careers free from scrubs emphasize innovation, technology, and public health awareness. They exemplify how commitment to patient care transcends physical uniforms, offering new paths for those passionate about making a difference from behind a screen.
