I am NOT growing as a dentist.. and here’s why!
A while ago, I caught myself saying “I’m not growing”, but when I really looked at my day-to-day, I realized I was, just not in the way I expected.
I wasn’t getting promotions or big titles, but I was learning how to manage projects, present ideas confidently, and build AI tools that help nonverbal patients communicate pain. That was growth.. it just didn’t look shiny from the outside.
I think we forget that growth can mean different things:
💻 Learning a new skill that challenges you.
🧠 Feeling more confident speaking up in meetings.
🌿 Finally having work that feels aligned with your values.
Career growth isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s the quiet shift that changes everything.
What does growth look like for you right now? A new skill? A raise? More peace? 👇 I’d love to hear your version.

Growth is often misunderstood as simply climbing the corporate ladder or quickly achieving visible milestones like promotions or raises. However, real growth can be a more subtle, yet deeply impactful process. It can mean developing stronger communication skills, enhancing your ability to manage projects effectively, or building innovative solutions—such as AI tools that assist nonverbal patients to communicate pain—which might not seem glamorous but have a profound effect. Moreover, growth is not confined to external achievements. Emotional and mental development, such as gaining confidence to speak up in meetings or finding peace by aligning work with your personal values, are pivotal aspects of career progress. These quieter shifts contribute to long-term fulfillment and success. Interestingly, the feeling that "leaving dentistry = life ending" highlighted in the image’s OCR content resonates with the fear many face when changing paths. Growth sometimes involves leaving familiar zones and redefining what success means on your own terms. This mindset encourages embracing change and recognizing the multiple forms growth can take, whether it's acquiring new skills, achieving greater inner peace, or contributing to meaningful projects. Reflecting on what growth means to you right now—whether it is mastering a new challenge, securing a raise, or simply feeling more aligned with your work—helps cultivate awareness and drives continuous personal development. Growth is not a one-size-fits-all journey but a unique experience shaped by your values, goals, and circumstances. Sharing your version of growth can inspire others to see their progress through a new lens and appreciate the quiet, transformative shifts that truly matter.

Love this. Cause yes getting comfortable in a job with no growth can sometimes be challenging to move from just cause it’s comfy
