📖 Context behind “666” in Revelation
A lot of people hear “666” and instantly think of horror movies or the devil himself.
But here’s something fascinating: in the first century, numbers had meaning, they weren’t just math. In Hebrew, letters also represented numbers.
When John wrote Revelation, he was using symbolism familiar to his readers. The name “Nero Caesar” (the Roman emperor who brutally persecuted Christians) adds up to 666 when written in Hebrew.
It wasn’t random it was a coded way of talking about real suffering, real people, and real hope in a dark time.
