These red velvet crinkle cookies are so delicious, fudgy with the hint of cocoa flavor. These cookies are perfect for any occasion.

🔘Ingredients:

100 grams ( 1/2 cup ) brown sugar

112 grams (1/2 cup) granulated sugar

2 large eggs (room temp)

1.5 tbsp milk

288 grams all-purpose flour

18 grams (1/4 cup) unsweetened natural cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

112g unsalted butter

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp red gel food coloring

1 tsp 5% vinegar

130 grams powdered sugar (for coating)

100g sugar (for coating)

🔘Prep and Baking process:

Preheat the oven to 350F/180C. Line baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

In the bowl add hot melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Stir everything together with spatula until combined. Let it cool before adding the eggs, one at a time. In each egg addition mix well before adding the second egg.

Stir in the vanilla, milk and food coloring. Stir well and add vinegar. Slowly mix in the flour and cocoa in two additions and add baking soda, baking powder and salt. Cover with plastic and refrigerate about 30 minutes. By using a medium cookie scoop divide the dough into 40-45g sized balls and drop onto prepared granulated sugar in small bowl. Roll the cookie dough in the sugar and transfer into a different bowl with powdered sugar. Roll them well in powdered sugar as well.

Place them on prepared baking sheets from earlier, roughly spacing 2 inches apart. Bake until cookies have spread and coating is cracked like in the video, between 21-24 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool completely. After cookies are cooled completely, Enjoy ♥️

... Read moreRed velvet crinkle cookies offer a delightful twist on classic cookies by combining the rich flavor of cocoa with the vibrant look and taste of red velvet. One key to achieving the perfect texture is incorporating a balance of both brown sugar and granulated sugar; brown sugar adds moisture and a deep caramel note, while granulated sugar helps create the crisp exterior. Using unsweetened cocoa powder ensures that the chocolate flavor remains natural and not overly sweet, enhancing the overall taste. The unique cracked surface of crinkle cookies is achieved by rolling the dough balls first in granulated sugar and then in powdered sugar before baking. This dual coating causes the exterior to crisp and crack as the cookies expand, creating a visually appealing texture. Refrigerating the dough for about 30 minutes before baking firms it up, allowing the cookies to spread evenly and crack in that signature pattern. An interesting ingredient is the addition of 5% vinegar, which reacts with the baking soda to help the cookies rise and maintain their softness inside. Additionally, the red gel food coloring contributes to the classic red velvet color without altering the dough’s consistency. For best results, preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and use parchment-lined baking sheets to prevent sticking and promote even baking. Space the cookies about 2 inches apart to allow for spreading. Baking for 21 to 24 minutes yields that perfect fudgy center with a delicate cracked crust. These cookies are an excellent treat for holiday parties, gift-giving, or everyday indulgence. They pair wonderfully with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee. Plus, the recipe’s straightforward steps make it accessible for both novice and experienced bakers alike. In addition, to customize your cookies, consider adding white chocolate chips or nuts to the dough for extra texture and sweetness. Storing the baked cookies in an airtight container keeps them fresh for several days, and they can also be frozen for longer preservation. Embrace the joy of baking these red velvet crinkle cookies, which combine beautiful aesthetics, rich flavors, and a delightfully soft and fudgy crumb—a true crowd pleaser that brings warmth and sweetness to any occasion.
