✶ Christmas Mini Hand Pies! ✶
We are all in Christmas spirit right now, and we all started thinking what to make for Christmas holiday! I have a perfect easy recipe for you. You should definitely give it a try!
🔘Ingredients:
2 puff pastry
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 white sugar
1,5 tsp ground cinnamon
2 apples
1/2 cup pecans
30 g butter
1 egg for top
1tbsp milk
🔘Prep and Baking Process:
Combine diced apples, granulated and brown sugars, chopped pecans, butter and cinnamon together in a medium saucepan.
Stir occasionally, bring to a simmer.
Allow to simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool uncovered at room temperature for 30 minutes.
On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the puff pastry. Using the form you desire(I want to create mittens), cut out mittens.
Re-roll any scraps and cut into smaller mittens.
Place cut mittens in the refrigerator to keep cold.
The colder the shaped dough, the easier it is to work with.
Preheat oven to 375°F (191°C).
Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Using a sharp knife, cut out stars and hearts in the other half of mittens.
These will be the top crusts.
Place about 2 Tablespoons of filling in the center of each bottom crust (or however much fits while leaving the edges bare.)
Place top crust on top.
Press your fingers all around the edges to seal, then crimp with a fork.
It’s OK if some filling juice is leaking out.
Lightly brush the top of the pie crust with egg wash mixture.
Sprinkle with coarse sugar, if you want.
Bake for about 28-32 minutes or until they’re golden brown on top and around the edges.
Remove from the oven and allow mittens hand pies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes and Enjoy your Christmas Mittens! ♥️☺️

If you're looking for a charming and delicious holiday treat, mini hand pies are a fantastic option that blends convenience with festive cheer. This recipe uses puff pastry for a flaky, buttery crust that pairs perfectly with a warm, spiced apple and pecan filling. The combination of brown sugar and cinnamon enhances the flavor and gives these pies that quintessential holiday warmth. For even more flavor depth, consider adding a splash of vanilla extract or a pinch of nutmeg to the apple mixture during simmering. This will complement the cinnamon and enrich the aroma. If you want to switch things up, dried cranberries or raisins can be incorporated with the pecans for a tangy twist. When shaping your hand pies into festive mittens or other holiday-themed forms, keeping the dough cold is crucial to maintain the pastry's flakiness and prevent it from becoming too soft during assembly. The egg wash on top creates a beautiful golden finish and helps any coarse sugar sprinkled on top to stick, giving an appealing sparkle. For those new to making hand pies, using parchment paper on your baking sheets is a lifesaver—it ensures easy cleanup and prevents sticking. Also, don't worry if some of the filling leaks while baking; it’s a natural part of homemade pies and adds to their comforting, rustic look. These mini hand pies are not only delightful for Christmas gatherings but also versatile for any fall or winter occasion. They can be made ahead and stored in the fridge or freezer, then warmed before serving to bring back that fresh-baked taste. Enjoy these easy-to-make, delicious apple hand pies as a heartwarming treat with family and friends during the holiday season. They are sure to become a favorite in your holiday baking repertoire!
