A latte for a bad start

Yesterday was weird and I can’t explain with words. I started at a new job and they just opened so business is slow and everything is still new. So I’m not too upset about that however I came in after talking to the boss about my availability and I didn’t realize oh I didn’t get a schedule yet. But I talked to the boss about the schedule so I just used that as my schedule and we talked about me doing any position but never a definite this is your position for now. So I came in thinking he would be there to help direct me he didn’t show. So I’m there early confused and kinda just floating around so I texted some people texted the assistant manager and I wasn’t getting a response mind you I’ve been there for almost an hour. Someone helps me and they call the boss because he doesn’t answer messages often he tells her “oh she’s not supposed to be there” I’m kinda irritated but that’s because I was upset about sleep I ended up driving home and making this latte and it completely reset my vibes I couldn’t even be mad talking about it 😭

From my personal experience, one of the toughest parts can be the uncertainty in communication and managing your own schedule, especially when things are just beginning to settle. Not getting a clear schedule or support right away can leave you feeling lost, like floating around without direction. One thing that helped me reset during a confusing start was taking a moment to create a comforting ritual: making a homemade iced latte. I use instant coffee for convenience, and adding vanilla and sugar-free salted caramel gives it a flavorful twist without excess sugar. Protein powder adds a boost of energy, and oat milk keeps it creamy and dairy-free. Tossing in some ice makes it refreshing and perfect for waking up the senses. This little break helped me shift my mindset from frustration to calm. Small acts like making your favorite coffee can serve as a self-care strategy to handle work stress or rough mornings. It’s amazing how a simple drink can turn the vibe around and help you refocus emotionally. Plus, having a go-to recipe like this can make any morning feel a bit more manageable. If you’re starting a new job or just having an off day, try investing a few minutes in preparing your own comforting beverage. It’s a simple, practical way to take control of your day, even when circumstances feel out of your hands. Plus, experimenting with flavors like vanilla and salted caramel or adding protein powder can make it both delicious and nourishing. Remember, it’s perfectly normal to feel uncertain starting something new. Finding little ways to care for yourself—whether it’s a homemade latte or a short break—can make all the difference in how you experience those first days. Embrace these rituals as a way to recharge and keep your spirits lifted!
