My Grandpas Ofrenda ✨
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a beautiful Mexican tradition that celebrates and honors the lives of loved ones who have passed away. Every year, families build ofrendas altars filled with photos, candles, flowers, and favorite foods to welcome the spirits of their ancestors back home. This year, our family created this ofrenda for my grandpa, decorating it with cempasúchil (marigold) flowers, colorful papel picado, and his favorite treats. Each detail represents love and remembrance: the candles light his path, the flowers guide his spirit, and the food and water offer him comfort after his journey. It’s a heartfelt way to feel close to him again, to honor his memory, and to remind ourselves that love never dies it simply lives on through tradition, family, and the stories we share.
When my grandfather passed away 3 yrs ago my mother made a promise to always go to Mexico every year and celebrate him on day of the dead week….she has kept her promise so far. I can just feel the love she poured into her father’s alter this year. We love and miss you abuelo 🦅 #dayofthedead #ofrenda #COCO #fyp #traditions
