Eyes on the target
Okay, so let's talk about Aim Down Sights (ADS) in Valorant. For the longest time, I was just hip-firing everything, thinking 'it's Valorant, not CS:GO, ADS is slow!' But then I realized I was missing out on a huge advantage, especially in certain situations. My journey to mastering ADS wasn't instant, but after a lot of practice, I've seen my accuracy and kill count go up significantly. The biggest misconception I had was that ADS is always bad. Not true! For me, ADS really shines in long-range engagements. Think about holding a long angle on Ascent B site or peeking C long on Haven. That slight zoom and reduced spread can make all the difference in hitting those headshots. When I'm trying to HOLD a pixel angle, or catch an enemy pushing from afar, switching to ADS with my Vandal or Phantom feels much more reliable. It’s like getting a clearer view directly on my target, even if it's just for a split second. However, it's crucial to know when not to use it. In close-quarters combat, ADS will often get you killed. The movement penalty is too high, and the slower fire rate (for some weapons) means you're an easier target. If someone's pushing you up close, stick to hip-fire and use your strafes. I learned this the hard way many times – trying to ADS someone who's already in my face just slows me down and makes me an easy target. Quick peeks are also generally better done with hip-fire. Weapon choice also plays a huge role. For rifles like the Vandal and Phantom, ADS offers a tighter spread, which is fantastic for those medium-to-long range duels. It won't turn your Phantom into a laser beam, but it definitely helps land those crucial shots. For sidearms or SMGs? Almost never worth it, unless you're trying to hit a very specific, distant target with a Ghost, which is rare. When I GET WEAPON like an Operator or Marshal, ADS is obviously mandatory, but even with regular rifles, understanding its niche is key. My personal tips for integrating ADS into your gameplay revolve around muscle memory and crosshair placement. Don't just randomly ADS; try to pre-aim with your hip-fire crosshair close to where you expect the enemy's head to be, then smoothly transition into ADS if you need that extra precision. It takes practice, almost like a specific training STAGE 3 for your aiming. I've found that focusing on this transition makes my shots much more consistent. Finally, practice, practice, practice! Head into the range and experiment. Try shooting bots at different ranges with and without ADS. See how your recoil patterns change. Set a goal, maybe aim for 63% headshot accuracy on the bots using ADS for long-range targets. It’s not about always using ADS, but knowing when to toggle it for maximum impact. Understanding this balance is what truly elevated my Valorant gameplay. So, don't write off ADS in Valorant. It's a tool in your arsenal, and when used correctly, it can give you that edge to win more duels and secure those crucial rounds. Give it a try, experiment, and see how it improves your 'eyes on the target'!
