Thong Yee Thong 唐醫堂 the massage place that blew me awayyyyy. Ambience was relaxing, receptionist and masseuse were kind, location was easy to get to!
🧐 something odd about the whole experience was the feet washing (2nd pic). We were brought to wash our feet, but were expected to dry them on our own + wear our own shoes to walk up to the massage room 🤔 “Doesn’t this make my feet dirty again, since my shoes aren’t clean?” - I asked my friend 😬
We went for 90 minutes body massage, and all 90 minutes body massages came with complimentary Cupping / Scrapping.
👍Why I like it:
🙌🏻My masseuse knew exactly that my left shoulder was deeply knotted and the force she used throughout the body was strong enough to make me feel that the knots were kneaded out, but not too uncomfortable. Scrapping lasted for about 15 minutes, done on my shoulders till mid-back, and it wasn’t painful at all ✌🏼Of course, there’s pain, but it was the pain you get from being scratched, not so much from being punched, if you get what I mean?
I’d totally go again, and find my masseuse (no. 40). 👍🏻highly recommend!
Psst.. same boss as the viral Tang Retreat 🙃 (which I haven’t tried but love to!)
... Read moreIf you're curious about trying cupping or scrapping alongside your massage, Thong Yee Thong offers a great introduction. The scrapping felt intense but not painful — like a strong scratch that really helped unwind my shoulder knots. One thing I noticed was the unique foot washing routine before the massage. Although we had to dry our own feet and put on our shoes afterward, I wondered if that might affect cleanliness, but it didn’t detract from the overall calming environment.
The massage room itself was clean, cozy, and aesthetically pleasing, which helped me fully relax during the session. I loved how my masseuse immediately found the tight spots in my left shoulder and applied just the right amount of pressure to ease the tension without discomfort. For anyone visiting Johor Bahru and looking for a quality reflexology or massage treatment, Thong Yee Thong is definitely worth checking out. Plus, it shares ownership with the popular Tang Retreat, adding to its credibility.
Overall, it was my first time experiencing Gua Sha and cupping together, and I left feeling refreshed and lighter. I’m already planning my next visit to get another round of that therapeutic scrapping and deep tissue massage!
