Melbourne Omakase - have you had Imperador?

We accidentally upgraded our lunch… 🍣💸

While looking for #sashimi in #melbourne, we found UMINONO .

Made a mistake when making a reservation:

👉 Planned: $70 AUD/pax omakase set

👉 Actual: $145 AUD/pax full omakase

The chef had already prepped the ingredients, so we went ahead with it.

✨ Experience:

- 🐟 Fish: fresh, seasonal, good variety

- ⭐ Highlight: Imperador - buttery, fatty, slight char bringing out all the best flavours

- 🙋 Service: friendly and attentive (chef explains each dish intentionally - attention to the craft!)

Tried finding Imperador in SG after - no luck so far.

📍Overall:

A worthwhile splurge if you’re in the mood for a more premium #Omakase experience

... Read moreIf you're curious about what makes UMINONO's omakase truly special, let me share more about my experience. The $145 AUD per person menu exceeded expectations with meticulous craftsmanship and an impressive variety of fresh fish, including NZ Kingfish, Ama Ebi, and the highly sought-after Imperador from Tasmania. The chef's attention to detail was clear as he explained the unique qualities of each dish, creating a meaningful dining experience. Beyond the omakase set, you can request extra pieces of your favorites like Imperador or Otoro nigiri, allowing for a personalized meal. The desserts, like the hazelnut chocolate mousse paired with raspberry granita, also offered a delightful finish. If you’re planning a visit, note that while reservations are recommended, sometimes upgrading unexpectedly can lead to a delicious surprise as it did for me. Although I've yet to find Imperador in Singapore, this Melbourne gem offers a rare chance to enjoy one of the finest fatty fishes in a carefully curated meal. Overall, UMINONO is a perfect splurge for anyone wanting to experience authentic omakase with seasonal ingredients and top-notch service in Melbourne.

Value for money omakase!
🤩 $115 for 11 courses, premium ingredients like Hokkaido Oysters, A5 Wagyu, Uni, and fresh sashimi is really value for money. Local chef, non-traditional hole in the wall spot. Definitely better than average for this price range, and would recommend the restaurant to non-Japanese food snobs!

We tried this omakase at $98 per pax for 12 courses. It’s affordable and definitely value for money, though honestly there isn’t much of a wow factor, most courses are sushi. We added a few extra dishes at additional cost and those made a big difference. The foie gras and beef were especial
