is onggii worth the hype?

hello! back w another post and this time round review of onggii…i actually thought the hype for this die down but theres still a long q during dinner hour😓

we wanted to order the viral so gomtang but it is out of stock… so we ordered⬇️

kimchi jjigae pork ($14.90)

the soup of this is super flavourful, spiciness hit perfectly with the hinge of sourness from the kimchi. very hearty and warm bowl of soup. pork is a little hard and chewy, i personally do not like the pork.

beef ugeojitang ($19.90)

this is new on their menu and we decide to give it a try. the beef literally melts in your mouth… i will order this just for the beef but other than nothing else surprise me.

tbh it is quite pricey and the banchan is not refillable too😭

Ugeojitang, a Korean beef soup, is often highlighted for its rich flavor and tender meat, making it a favorite among visitors looking for authentic comfort food. While Onggii's version impressed me with the beef's tenderness, some dishes like the kimchi jjigae pork can have texture variations; the soup was flavorful and just the right level of heat, but the pork was a bit chewy for my taste. It's important to note that Onggii's menu may be a bit on the pricier side, so it's worth considering what dishes truly stand out for you. Also, be prepared that their banchan (side dishes) aren't refillable, which might affect your overall dining experience if you enjoy having extras. From my visits, the dining environment tends to get busy during peak hours, particularly dinner time, indicating ongoing popularity. For anyone looking to try Onggii, I recommend focusing on the standout beef dishes like the ugeojitang and being aware of your preferences regarding meat texture. The flavors aim to deliver a warm, soul-comforting Korean meal, but the slight price premium means it's best enjoyed as an occasional treat rather than a regular spot. Overall, Onggii offers a glimpse into Korean soul flavors worth trying, especially if you appreciate authentic soups and stews with a personal twist.

non-refillable banchan is a deal breaker for me...it's the principle of the matter...

subdued try ons - is it worth the hype??
when i first entered subdued i didn’t feel the hype of the store and in my opinion brandy is way way better in terms of the variety of designs and for the price, brandy is more worth (both price range are anot the same) however, there are a few pieces i picked out and here are the try-ons :)
