Just. Keep. Swimming! 🐠💕
September 3, 2024,
I received my CTO, and what made it even more special was that it happened on a New Moon!
After years of waiting,
I started my Flight Attendant journey two years ago.
I made it all the way to a face-to-face in November of 2022, on my first try!
I was sooo happy, omg, but I allowed my nerves to overpower me, and I didn’t walk away an offer.
I received a TBNT the following month.
I tried again when I was allowed to, but once again, my nerves and overthinking got the best of me, and I didn’t make it past the pre-recorded interview.
At this point, my confidence was slowly decreasing, and the thoughts in my head started to sound like: “Maybe this isn’t for you” and “Your interview skills aren’t good enough.”
I have to be honest, I started to believe those thoughts.
When I applied again in late 2023, I gave up.
I advanced to the pre-recorded interview but I didn’t submit it.
However, after months of signs, obstacles, and encouraging conversations, I decided to give it another shot. This time, I promised myself I wouldn’t internalize any negative thoughts. I chose to truly believe in myself and take it one step at a time.
Three interviews. I made it through THREE interviews.
Was I nervous? Absolutely. Did I stumble over some of my words? Yes. And did negative thoughts try to take over? H—yes!
But I didn’t internalize any of that. I continued to show my heart, stayed positive, and Just. Kept. Swimming!
This led me to receiving my CTO!
I am SO proud of myself for not giving up on my aspirations. It felt surreal to finally achieve something I’ve always dreamt of and it took me some time to fully accept that I absolutely deserved this!!!
Hopefuls out there,
My advice to you is simple: be your beautiful self, stay positive, and Just. Keep. Swimming! 🐠💕

We've all been there, right? That moment when you've put your heart and soul into something, faced a setback, and the little voice in your head starts whispering, 'Maybe this isn't for you.' I certainly know that feeling. After going through multiple interview rounds and getting rejections, there were times I felt like throwing in the towel. But what I've learned, and what truly changed my trajectory, was embracing that 'Just Keep Swimming' mantra. It's not just a cute quote from a movie; it's a powerful philosophy for navigating life's ups and downs. For me, the biggest hurdle wasn't just the rejections, but the blow to my confidence. Each 'Thank You But No Thank You' (TBNT) felt like a personal critique of my ability. I realized I needed a strategy to keep my spirits up. One thing that helped immensely was breaking down my goal into smaller, manageable steps. Instead of focusing on the overwhelming final outcome, I'd concentrate on the next interview prep session, or perfecting one specific answer. This made the journey feel less daunting and more achievable, one "stroke" at a time. Another crucial tip I picked up was to reframe rejection. It's easy to see it as a failure, but what if it's really a redirection? Each setback taught me something new about myself, about the process, and about what I needed to improve. I started viewing those missed opportunities not as closed doors, but as lessons that paved the way for the ultimate 'yes.' It's like finding a different current that eventually leads you to the right ocean. Maintaining a positive mindset is easier said than done, especially when doubts creep in. I found that surrounding myself with positive influences, whether it was supportive friends or online communities of aspiring flight attendants, made a huge difference. Their encouragement helped me silence the negative self-talk. I also started practicing visualization. I'd close my eyes and picture myself in that crisp professional dress, proudly wearing an ID badge, living the flight attendant journey I always dreamed of. This simple practice kept my motivation burning brightly, even on the toughest days. Self-care also became non-negotiable. When you're pushing hard towards a goal, it's easy to burn out. Taking time for hobbies, getting enough rest, or simply pausing to appreciate how far I'd already come, recharged my mental and emotional batteries. It’s not selfish; it’s essential fuel for your marathon. For anyone out there pursuing a challenging dream, especially in competitive fields like becoming a flight attendant, remember that your journey is unique. There will be turbulence, unexpected delays, and moments when you feel like you're drifting. But if you keep applying the 'Just Keep Swimming' principle – taking one step at a time, learning from every experience, nurturing your self-belief, and visualizing your success – you will eventually reach your destination. Don't let anyone, especially that voice in your head, tell you otherwise. Keep pushing, keep learning, and most importantly, just keep swimming towards your beautiful future. You've got this!
