... Read moreYou know, there are moments in worship where the emotions just take over, right? I've definitely been that woman with tears on her face, looking upwards, feeling such deep emotion during a praise break. It's a powerful experience, and I used to wonder, 'Why do people cry during worship?' Is it just me? Over time, I've come to understand it's often a beautiful release. Sometimes, it's the Holy Spirit moving, touching a deep part of your soul, bringing comfort or conviction. Other times, it's the culmination of carrying burdens, and in that moment of surrender, the tears just flow, washing away the heaviness. It's a sign of vulnerability, but also immense strength, acknowledging that we can't do it all on our own. It's a direct connection to something bigger than us, a spiritual cleansing.
And speaking of connection, that leads me to something else I've learned about prayer: God truly hears us, but His answers might not always be what we expect. We often hear that 'God has 3 answers to your prayers': Yes, No, or Wait/Grow. Initially, I found this concept a bit simplistic, but through my own journey, I've seen its truth unfold.
'Yes' is wonderful, isn’t it? When you pray for something specific and see it manifest, it’s a beautiful affirmation of His attentiveness. I remember praying for strength during a particularly challenging time, and suddenly, opportunities for support and encouragement seemed to appear out of nowhere – clear 'yes' answers.
Then there’s 'No.' This one can be tough to accept. I’ve prayed fervently for things I was convinced were good for me, only for doors to close. It took time, but looking back, I often realized His 'no' was a protection, guiding me away from something that wouldn't have served my highest good, or leading me to something far better. It’s about trusting His greater wisdom, even when it hurts.
And finally, 'Wait' or 'Grow.' This is probably the most common answer in my experience. It’s not a denial, but an invitation to develop patience, resilience, or to learn specific lessons before the answer is revealed. Sometimes, God needs to prepare us for the blessing, or prepare the blessing for us. I’ve had seasons of intense prayer where I felt nothing was happening, only to look back years later and see how that 'waiting' period was crucial for my spiritual growth, equipping me for what was to come. It taught me perseverance and deeper reliance on Him.
So, whether you're crying out in worship or pouring out your heart in prayer, remember that Heaven is listening. Your emotions are valid, and your prayers are heard, even if the answers unfold differently than you anticipate. Trust the process, and keep pouring out your heart.
