Reading during my lunch break!
📚yesterday I decided to bring my book to work, already assuming that I wouldn’t have time to read it but while i was sitting in my car enjoying my lunch decided to read and it was so peaceful! maybe bc there weren’t any distractions bc i was in the car or maybe it’s because i had my windows down and there was a very nice breeze rolling through lol😂either way i had a time and the chapter i was reading was soooo good- I didn’t want to put it down!

Remember that amazing feeling from my last post about finding peace reading during my lunch break? It’s truly a game-changer, and I wanted to dive deeper into why it works so well and how you can make it a regular part of your routine, especially if you've been wondering, “can I really fit reading into my busy day?” For so many of us, our lunch break often feels like another chore – running errands, scrolling social media, or just staring blankly at a wall. But what if it could be a truly restorative escape? That's exactly what reading offers. It’s not just about consuming words; it’s about giving your mind a different kind of stimulation, allowing you to disconnect from work stress and truly recharge. That sense of calm I found in my car with a gentle breeze rolling through, completely absorbed in a chapter, was invaluable. It truly felt like a “book lover life” moment. So, how can you transform your own lunch break into a peaceful reading sanctuary? Finding Your Perfect Reading Nook: My car was surprisingly effective because it offered a private, quiet space. But don’t limit yourself! Think about: The office parking lot: If you have a car, it’s a brilliant, self-contained bubble. A nearby park: Fresh air and nature can enhance the experience. A quiet corner in your office building: Maybe an unused break room or a comfy chair away from the main hustle. A local café: The gentle hum of a coffee shop can sometimes be the perfect background noise for focus. The key is to find somewhere you won't be interrupted and can truly immerse yourself. Choosing Your Next Great Read: What kind of book works best for short bursts of reading? Gripping thrillers or mysteries: These make it easy to pick up where you left off and leave you eager for the next session. Short stories or novellas: Perfect for finishing a complete narrative arc in one or two lunch breaks. Engaging non-fiction: A chapter of a growth-oriented book can provide inspiration for the rest of your day. That novel everyone's talking about: Like "Sweet, Soft, Plenty Rhythm" by Laura Warrell – sometimes you just need to get absorbed in a beautiful story. Keep a physical book in your bag or car, or use an e-reader or your phone for quick access. Audiobooks are also fantastic if you're taking a walk or need to multitask slightly. Making It a Habit – Even for 15 Minutes: You don't need an hour to make reading count. Even 15-20 minutes can significantly change your mental state. Try these tips: Schedule it: Treat your reading time like an important appointment. Prepare ahead: Have your book ready, your lunch packed, and your spot chosen. Silence notifications: This is your time to disconnect. Don't feel guilty: This is self-care, and a recharged you is a more productive and happier you. Many people wonder, “can I read during my lunch break even if I have other things to do?” The answer is a resounding YES! It’s about prioritizing a small slice of time for yourself. Think of it as a mental palate cleanser, a way to reset before tackling the afternoon. Let's build a “Reading at Lunch Club” vibe! What books are you currently reading on your breaks?
