mini labor day picnic🧺🎨ðŸ¤
🧺my bestie and i had an impromptu picnic today! i’ve been wanting to read and color outside for the longest but i haven’t gotten around to it, so when she brought up the idea i was locked in!
🧺the weather was perfect and there weren’t many ppl out so we had a lot of space! the best part was that my new coloring book and markers were delivered right before we headed out so I got to try out the alcohol markers for the first time! i loved them! if you love coloring i’d definitely recommend them and the coloring book too bc it has thicker pages with a slightly different texture so the markers don’t bleed through!
🧺we weren’t out there long but it was nice to just be in there weather and eat and yap of course🤠how was y’all’s labor day weekend??

My Labor Day picnic with my bestie was such a refreshing break, and it got me thinking about how easy it is to create your own little escape! If you're looking to plan a similar cozy outdoor experience, here are some tips I've picked up. First, for the perfect picnic spread, think about convenience and deliciousness. We grabbed some easy-to-eat favorites like Jersey Mike's Subs which are always a hit, and a bag of Miss Vickie's Sea Salt chips for that satisfying crunch. Don't forget drinks! A thermos of iced tea or a couple of cold sparkling waters can make all the difference to stay hydrated. For seating, a big, comfy blanket (ours was a lovely purple!) is a must for lounging. And always pack a small trash bag to leave no trace behind. Now, let's talk about the coloring! I was so excited to finally try my new alcohol markers, and let me tell you, they lived up to the hype! The colors are so vibrant and blend beautifully, giving a really smooth finish. If you're new to them, investing in a good quality coloring book like the Street Food Coloring Book I used is key. Look for books with thicker pages that are specifically designed for alcohol markers, so you don't get frustrating bleed-through onto the next page. The Carioca Breakfast Açaà Bowl Rio de Janeiro page was a joy to color! It's such a relaxing hobby, and seeing the colors come to life is incredibly satisfying. It's a great way to unwind and tap into your creative side, whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist. And for my fellow bookworms, what's better than reading outside? I was totally engrossed in Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. If you haven't read her books, you absolutely should! She writes contemporary romance with so much heart, humor, and often touches on important themes. Her characters feel so real, and her stories are just the perfect escape. Reading outdoors just amplifies the experience, letting you truly immerse yourself in the story while enjoying the fresh air. Finding simple joys like this impromptu picnic makes life so much sweeter. It doesn't have to be a big, elaborate plan—just grab a friend, some good food, a coloring book, and a great read. It's amazing how much a little bit of sunshine, good company, and a creative outlet can boost your mood. I'm already planning my next one! What are your go-to picnic essentials or favorite outdoor activities?

What a cute idea. ILOVE that coloring book idea. I’m really tempted to start coloring again. I got those markers a while ago and literally never used them. I guess it’s time for me to give it a try.
