Crock Pot Chili
#Food #Recipe #lemon8challenge #crockpotrecipes #crockpotchili One of my favorite meals to make is Crock-Pot chili.
We are a family of 7, so I use 3 lbs of ground hamburger, and cook it on the stove top with coriander, chili seasoning and I add a little cumin as well.
then I strain the beef and I add it to the Crock-Pot along with several cans of diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and sometimes whole peeled tomatoes as well because that just soaks in so much.
I also add in several cans of dark red kidney beans. you can also add pinto beans or any other beans that you want to add. A very important tip is to always make sure to rinse and soak your beans before putting them in the Crock pot with your foods. You can take the time to research why when you have more time on your hands.
Next, I dice up a giant white onion and place that in the Crock pot along with everything else ...and then I add another pack of chili seasoning and more coriander, some garlic powder seasoning and some onion powder seasoning as well. Finally, I slice up a bunch of fresh cilantro and throw that in there as well and I take one whole lime and squeeze it into the chili.
I let the chili sit for about 3 hours minimum in the Crock-Pot on high and when it's ready to serve, I top it off with a Mexican blend of shredded cheese and a giant dollop of sour cream along with a bunch of fresh cilantro leaves plucked from the batch.
I love this app because it's taught me a bunch of new recipes as well and so I figured I might as well give back to the community and share the recipes I've been making for decades as well. I'm now a mama 5 and married to my soulmate so whenever I learn something cool and new, I like to share it with others to inspire y'all to also try something new 🙂 earlier I meal prepped a bunch of strawberry parfaits for my family as well and those are a protein packed snack that everyone LOVES! Follow me for more fun ideas and I'll check out y'all's posts as well!
One of the best things about making Crock-Pot chili is its ease and versatility, especially for busy families or anyone who enjoys a comforting meal with minimal fuss. Using a slow cooker allows the flavors to meld wonderfully, creating rich and deep tastes that you just can’t get from quick stovetop dishes. When preparing your Crock-Pot chili, I recommend browning the ground beef first as it helps develop flavor and removes excess fat. Adding spices like coriander, chili seasoning, cumin, garlic powder, and onion powder creates a balanced and aromatic base. The use of multiple types of tomatoes—diced, sauce, and whole peeled—adds layers of texture and tang. An important tip is rinsing and soaking your beans prior to adding them to the Crock-Pot. This reduces some of the compounds that cause digestion issues and helps the beans cook evenly. If you're using canned beans for convenience, make sure to rinse them thoroughly to remove excess sodium and preservatives. I love incorporating fresh ingredients like diced white onions, sliced cilantro, and a squeeze of fresh lime at the end. These brighten the chili and bring fresh, vibrant notes that complement the slow-cooked richness. When serving, topping with a Mexican cheese blend and a generous dollop of sour cream adds creaminess while balancing the spices. For added variety, you can experiment with different beans such as pinto or black beans, or even add vegetables like bell peppers or corn. This flexibility means you can tailor the chili to your taste preferences or whatever you have on hand. As a personal experience, making a large batch of this chili has been a lifesaver for my family meals, especially when needing to feed a crowd or prepping meals ahead of time. The recipe freezes well, making it perfect for busy weeks. Plus, it’s a crowd-pleaser that warms everyone up! The photo with this recipe, captioned "Foodie CROCK POT CHILI Enjoy your meals," perfectly encapsulates the comforting and hearty nature of this dish. I highly encourage exploring slow cooker recipes like this one—it’s a wonderful way to nourish your family with minimal effort and maximum flavor.
