All About the Lagniappe Ep. 1 | If you come to one of my parties, chances are you’re not leaving empty-handed.
I’ve always believed the ending of a gathering should feel just as special as the beginning… and a little goodie bag moment never hurt anybody.
For my 29th birthday, Beignets & Bubbles, I made custom totes for everyone to take home. A little keepsake from the night, and honestly, the perfect excuse to pull out my Cricut.
If you want to recreate them at home, here’s the quick rundown 📝 ⚜️Design your graphic and cut a stencil using your Cricut ⚜️Place the stencil onto a screen printing kit’s screen, be sure to tape off the rest of the screen so no ink gets through.. then put on top of a small canvas tote. ⚜️Add a line of fabric ink at the top of the stencil ⚜️Use a squeegee to pull the ink across the design ⚜️Carefully peel the stencil back and let the ink dry completely
Fill the bags with something sweet and place them by the door for guests on their way out. For me, that was some Louisiana-inspired goodies like Pecan Candy, Sweet tea & Tony’s Chachere's Seasoning packets!
Just a little lagniappe. ✨

Hosting a memorable party is all about those thoughtful touches that guests remember long after the event ends. One of my favorite ways to leave a lasting impression is by giving out custom goodie bags—as seen in my recent Beignets & Bubbles birthday celebration. These bags aren’t just any party favors; they’re personalized keepsakes designed using Cricut stencils and screen printing techniques, which make the process fun and accessible even if you’re new to crafting. When I created my totes, I opted for simple, elegant black fabric ink on small canvas bags, which gave a chic and timeless look. I sourced a beginner-friendly screen printing starter kit that included all the essentials—frames, squeegees, ink, and tape. What I found helpful was taping off the screen edges to avoid ink bleeding beyond the design, ensuring the prints came out crisp each time. Mirroring your design in Cricut Design Space is crucial so the final print is oriented correctly. One key tip is consistency: when pulling the ink across your stencil, apply even pressure and move in a single direction to avoid smudging. After peeling back the stencil, letting the ink fully dry is essential to prevent smearing. To set the ink for durability, a warm iron over a protective cloth does the trick. Filling these totes offers another chance to reflect your party’s theme. I chose Louisiana-inspired items like pecan candy, sweet tea packets, and Tony’s Chachere’s seasoning—small but meaningful nods to the South that added unique charm and a tasty surprise. This mix of keepsake and local flavor really delighted my guests and gave the whole evening an extra layer of hospitality, embodying the true spirit of 'lagniappe'—a little something extra. If you’re considering DIY goodie bags for your next event, this approach strikes a great balance between creativity and practicality. It’s a fun crafting project that yields professional-looking results and leaves guests with something special to remember your gathering by. Plus, with supplies available on Amazon and design ideas easy to customize, it’s an achievable project for hosts of all skill levels.
