Here are my thoughts on L’Oréal Hair dye. I’ve used the copper, red, and blond shades. If you have virgin @Lemon8 Beauty hair the color will take after one session of course. If your like me and have dies your hair multiple times. It take about 3 sessions to get the color your looking for. I definitely recommend this product. You do not have to bleach your hair and that is one thing I will never do. It’s also super simple to assemble. 10/10 would recommend #lemon8diarychallenge
... Read moreOkay, so you've heard about L'Oréal HiColor, and you're curious if it really works, especially for achieving those vibrant red and copper tones on dark hair without the dreaded bleach. I'm here to dive deeper into my experience because, let me tell you, this product is a game-changer if you're like me and refuse to put bleach near your strands!
First off, as mentioned in my initial thoughts, the magic of L'Oréal Excellence HiColor is its high-lift formula designed specifically for dark hair. This means it can lift your natural color while depositing a vibrant shade all in one step, often within just 30 minutes! For those with virgin hair, you're in for a treat – one session is usually all it takes to get that stunning, intense red or sizzling copper look you're dreaming of. The boxes I've seen, like the Copper and Sizzling Copper, truly deliver on their promise.
Now, for my fellow hair-dye enthusiasts who've experimented with colors before, let's talk expectations. My hair had been previously dyed multiple times, so achieving my desired shade of red took about three sessions. Don't be discouraged by this! It's a common scenario for non-virgin hair. What I usually do is space out my applications by a few weeks to give my hair a breather and ensure the color builds up beautifully without over-processing. A little patience goes a long way here, and it's still way better than the damage bleach can cause.
Application is incredibly simple, just as I said before. The assembly is straightforward – mix, apply, wait, rinse! I always recommend sectioning your hair thoroughly to ensure even saturation, especially when working with darker hair. For those vibrant reds, making sure every strand is coated is key to avoiding patchy results. And yes, sticking to that approximate 30-minute processing time is crucial for optimal color development without unnecessary exposure.
Once you've achieved your perfect shade, maintaining that rich, vibrant red is the next step. Red dyes, especially high-lift ones, can sometimes fade quicker than other colors. I've found using sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners specifically formulated for color-treated hair makes a huge difference. Washing with cooler water also helps lock in the color longer. And, if you can, try to limit heat styling or use a good heat protectant. Embracing these few aftercare tips will keep your L'Oréal HiColor red looking salon-fresh between touch-ups. Trust me, it’s worth the extra effort to keep that beautiful, deep red or fiery copper shining!
LOVED this stuff!!! It was always my go-to when I got the itch for red hair and I only needed to do one session, with two boxes each time! And I have 2N hair.
