I will have a good life with or without you. I will put my mental health first from now on. I was not wrong for expressing my feelings. I did what I needed to do for myself to feel emotionally safe. I am not evil or a bad person for wanting to put my mental health first, and neither are you.

It will be ok

It’s different and scary but we will find ourselves again.

Love given is never waisted.

And good memories made are not something to regret.

I used to think I had to power through everything, but I've realized the power of acknowledging where I'm at and giving myself the compassion I deserve. For me, 'healing notes' aren't just pretty words; they're anchors. They're those little reminders I jot down that say, 'It will be Different But it will be Okay.' That phrase, in particular, has become a mantra. It perfectly captures that mix of fear and hope when you're navigating uncharted emotional territory. These notes are a safe space where I can validate my feelings, even the messy ones. I write down things like, 'It's okay to feel sad today,' or 'My feelings are valid, and I wasn't wrong for expressing them.' This practice has been crucial in building back my emotional safety – something I realized I desperately needed to prioritize. I remember feeling so much guilt after a past situation, thinking I was a 'bad person' for setting boundaries or walking away from something that no longer served me. But through my healing notes, I started to affirm: 'I am not evil or a bad person for wanting to put my mental health first.' It sounds simple, but writing it down, seeing it, and repeating it really shifts your perspective. It helps you internalize that self-care isn't selfish; it’s essential. It’s about creating a good life *for yourself*, with or without anyone else. So, how do you start your own healing notes? It doesn't have to be complicated. Grab a notebook, or even just your phone's notes app. Start by acknowledging what you're feeling right now. What promises do you need to make to yourself? Perhaps it's a promise to rest, to forgive yourself, or to seek joy. For me, connecting with my 'inner child' has been a big part of it – reminding myself that the love given was never wasted and that good memories aren't something to regret. It's about holding onto the good while releasing what no longer serves your peace. Another thing I often include in my healing notes are actionable steps, however small. Maybe it's 'Call a friend today,' 'Go for a walk,' or 'Spend 10 minutes on a hobby I love.' These tiny acts of self-love accumulate and remind me that I am actively participating in my own recovery. And always, always, I circle back to that core belief: 'It will be different, but it will be okay.' Trusting that process, even when it’s scary, is the biggest healing note of all. This journey of self-discovery and recovery is ongoing, and these notes are my constant companions, guiding me back to myself.
