言葉が遅いと感じたとき、親としてはどうしても焦りや不安が募りますよね。私も子育ての中で「様子見」と言われ、何をすればいいのか分からず戸惑った経験があります。でも実際には、専門家が言う「様子見」は単なる放置ではなく、子どもの言葉の土台をしっかり育てるためのとても大切な時間です。 例えば、普段の生活で「靴下持ってきて」など簡単な指示を理解できているかを観察したり、子どもが指差しや表情で「これを見てほしい」「やってほしい」と伝えようとする意欲を感じ取ったり、また「あー」「うー」だけでなく「パパ」「ママ」のような子音が含まれた音が増えているかをチェックすることが重要です。これらは言葉の準備段階であり、成長のサインです。 私自身も言語聴覚士の指導のもと、子どもとの関わり方を工夫し「言葉の土台」を支える遊びを取り入れました。例えば、絵本の読み聞かせ時に指差ししながら話すことで理解力を刺激したり、おもちゃを使って「やってみたい」という意欲を引き出したり、小さな音の真似を楽しむことで発音練習の土台を作ることができました。 このような日々の積み重ねが、言葉の発達につながり、結果的に子育ての安心感も増していきました。言葉が出るのが遅いと感じるママたちに知ってほしいのは、「様子見」はあくまで子どもの成長を見守る期間であり、その間にできる働きかけもたくさんあるということです。 ぜひ、専門家から聞いた3つの土台を意識しながら、あまり焦らず、愛情をたっぷり注いで子どもの成長を支えてください。たくさん話しかけて、遊んで、一緒に笑顔で過ごす時間が、子どもの言葉の芽を育てる大切な栄養となりますよ。
