... Read moreHey everyone! So glad you're diving deeper into one of my all-time favorite items in Teamfight Tactics: Rabadon's Deathcap. It's often seen as a staple for Ability Power (AP) carries, but knowing when and on whom to build it can truly elevate your game. I've had so many wins just by understanding its power spike! What Makes Rabadon's Deathcap So Strong? Essentially, Rabadon's Deathcap provides a massive boost to your unit's Ability Power. The OCR even picked up "+35% Ability Power," which is a huge chunk! This item is all about maximizing raw magic damage. If your carry's primary source of damage comes from their ability, and they scale heavily with AP, then Deathcap is your best friend. It's not just about adding a flat amount; it's a multiplier, making all other AP sources even more effective. My Top Picks for Rabadon's Deathcap Carries: From my experience, champions that can cast frequently or have abilities with high base damage that scale well with AP are ideal. Bel'Veth (Slayer/Void): While sometimes built AD, an AP Bel'Veth can surprise opponents, especially with the Endless Banquet augment. Her ability scales incredibly well, and with a Deathcap, she can decimate backlines. Lissandra (Invoker/Freljord): She's fantastic at controlling the board and dishing out damage. With a Deathcap, her primary target and splash damage become devastating, often leading to crucial eliminations. Milio (Invoker/Targon): Often overlooked as a pure damage dealer, a well-itemized Milio with Deathcap can surprise opponents with his high-scaling ability. Pair him with other Invokers for even faster casts. Arcanists/Invokers in general: Units like Ahri, Lux, or even Vel'Koz (if he were in this set) are natural fits. The Arcanist trait itself boosts AP, making Deathcap even stronger. Look for units like the Arcanists or Invokers mentioned in the OCR. Synergistic Items & Compositions: Rabadon's Deathcap rarely works alone. To truly shine, it needs companions. Jeweled Gauntlet: This is almost a must-have alongside Deathcap for most AP carries. The OCR shows "Critical Strike Chance +35%" and "Abilities can critically strike." Imagine your already boosted AP ability also critically striking – insane damage! Blue Buff: For champions who need to cast quickly and often, like Lissandra or Milio, Blue Buff ensures they reach their ultimate faster, maximizing the Deathcap's impact. Morellonomicon: While Deathcap is pure damage, Morellonomicon provides Ability Power and applies a powerful burn and grievous wounds. This is critical against healing compositions, and the extra AP still benefits your Deathcap carry. Positioning: Always protect your Deathcap carry! Frontliners like Sion (Bruiser/Noxus) or Defenders like Leona (Defender/Targon) are essential to buy your carry time to cast multiple times. Think about keeping them safe behind your main tank line. When to Prioritize Rabadon's: I usually prioritize building Rabadon's when I've committed to an AP-centric composition and have found a strong AP carry. If I get an early Rod, I'll often hold it or combine it into a Deathcap component if I see a strong AP unit coming online. Don't force it if your lobby is heavy AD or you can't find a suitable carrier. Using Rabadon's Deathcap effectively isn't just about equipping it; it's about understanding your comp, your carry, and the current meta. Keep experimenting, and you'll soon be melting boards like a pro!
