Spend A 12hr shift with me in mother baby 🤰🏾

I work at the hospital as an APU tech who also works Mother Baby and l&D.

I work mother baby yesterday and I always love working this unit. My shift starts 6:40 but because I live 45 minutes away I am usually up at 4:50 to get me and my toddler ready. My baby usually is with my mom/grandma or my aunt/cousins doing my shifts. (Very grateful)

6:40-8:00am: I clock in, get report and do vitals on all my patients that are still Q4. I had 10 patients to begin with. And most were past their 24 hours mark and only get Q8 vitals.

8:30-9:30: I had breakfast/down time.

9:30-11: I did rounds, then did my first two baby baths. For obvious reasons I didn’t show the little humans first baths. 💕 But that part is hands down my favorite part of all of my work. Their little tiny face and feet just melts me every time.

12:00- 1pm: second set of vitals were done. I had two babies come off blood sugars which means they could get a bath. 😍

1-2:30: I charted and voided out some moms then did additional 2 baby baths.

I discharged 3 families and as soon as the rooms were cleaned I set them up in preparation for the next mom and baby. Did a few planning so I don’t mix up my work/school schedules.

3:00- 5:00 I had lunch, kinda late(I like to eat lunch late on days I’ll skip dinners because I get home so late) did one las baby bath(got off sugars late) and charted everything. We got our 2nd admission and was practically done for the day.

5:30-645: one more round to give water then wait for night shift. Give report and clock out!!

7:15 clock out

9:00 get home. 🏠
