Skincare Ins & Outs ~ 2026 Edition ⭐️
✨ New year calls for a skincare reset!
These are some changes that I plan on adding to my routine, and some habits that I will be trying to practice:
❌ OUT: Overconsumption with skincare and trying out too many products in my routine
✅ IN: Using what I know works!
• Using a bunch of new skincare was messing with my skin and also could cause wasted product, so I am going to do better about sticking with my OGs as best as I can!
✅ IN: Always keeping my skin hydrated
• Even though I have oily skin, I still love the look of healthy and glowy skin so I plan on prioritizing moisture a little bit more in my routine!
❌ OUT: Only using micellar water to remove my makeup
✅ IN: Double cleansing at night!
• I always try my best to double cleanse, but sometimes when I'm too tired I just use the micellar water... I always regret it in the morning when my skin does not look clean at all and it feels extra dry. No more excuses, I am going to lock in on properly cleansing my skin!

Embarking on a true skincare "glow up" in 2026 is more about smart habits than endless products, and I’ve learned this firsthand. My journey started with realizing that for genuinely "glowing skin," it isn't about having a million different bottles; it's about finding those few gems that truly make your skin happy and sticking with them. For me, this meant stepping back from the constant cycle of trying new things and really listening to what my skin needed. That moment I committed to avoiding "overconsumption" was a game changer. I used to think more products meant better results, but it often led to irritation or simply wasting money on things that didn't deliver. Even with oily skin, I've learned that "prioritizing hydration" is absolutely crucial for that healthy, luminous look. It’s a common misconception that oily skin doesn't need moisture; often, dehydration can actually trigger more oil production as your skin tries to compensate. I've found great success with lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizers. For example, incorporating a "snail mucin oil-free moisturizer" has been fantastic for deep hydration without feeling heavy or sticky, and using a "daily facial moisturizer for sensitive skin" keeps my skin barrier happy and calm. Look for formulas rich in humectants like hyaluronic acid and glycerin to draw moisture into your skin without adding oil. Another monumental shift in my "skincare routine" has been making the commitment to "always double cleansing." Simply using "micellar water" wasn't cutting it for me, especially after wearing makeup or even just sunscreen and pollutants all day. My routine now starts with a "light cleansing oil" to effortlessly dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and impurities. This is then followed by a "purifying foaming cleanser" to deeply clean my pores and ensure every trace of dirt and oil is gone. This two-step process prevents breakouts and allows my serums and moisturizers to absorb much more effectively, paving the way for truly radiant skin. Remember, a "2026 skincare glow up" is a journey, not a destination. Consistency is absolutely key! These simple "skincare habits" that emphasize quality over quantity, proper hydration tailored to your skin type, and thorough cleansing are the foundational steps for achieving a beautiful, healthy complexion. It's about building a routine that works for you and then faithfully sticking with it every single day.
