Is my skincare routine missing anything? 👀

I feel like I have a pretty simple nighttime skincare routine, and it makes me curious if there is anything I can add to enhance it just a little 🤭

At the moment, I don’t do any consistent exfoliating or treatment products, but I am open to starting again!

For reference, I have combo/oily skin, and my main concerns are redness, acne scars, and enlarged pores!

Based on my current products, skin type and concerns, is there any product or step I should add? Or are there any products I should swap out? Please let me know!! 🙏🏻

... Read moreBased on your current nighttime skincare routine and your skin type and concerns, there are some valuable steps you could consider adding to improve results. Since you currently don’t exfoliate regularly and have redness, acne scars, and enlarged pores, adding a gentle chemical exfoliant like a BHA (salicylic acid) can be very beneficial. Salicylic acid penetrates pores to clear out excess oil and dead skin cells, which helps reduce acne and minimizes pore appearance. Because your skin is combo/oily, this type of exfoliation is usually well tolerated compared to harsh physical scrubs. Additionally, since redness is a concern, incorporating soothing ingredients like niacinamide can help calm inflammation and even out skin tone. You could look for serums or moisturizers that include niacinamide to complement your existing routine. It also supports skin barrier function, which is essential when using exfoliants to prevent irritation. As for acne scars, products containing ingredients like vitamin C or azelaic acid can help brighten the skin and encourage skin renewal to fade scars over time. Vitamin C serums are popular for their antioxidant effects and ability to improve skin texture. Azelaic acid is also known for reducing redness and discoloration and can be suitable for sensitive skin types. When introducing exfoliants or actives, it’s important to patch test and gradually incorporate them into your routine to avoid over-exfoliation or irritation. Since you use a Centella-based cleansing oil and a gentle La Roche-Posay cleanser, your base cleansing steps provide a good start for sensitive or irritated skin. Lastly, maintaining your current moisturizing step with a barrier-supportive formula like Vanicream is smart, as hydration is key to skin health and recovery. You might consider layering a hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid before moisturizer if your skin needs extra moisture without heaviness. Overall, while your routine focuses well on cleansing and hydration, adding targeted treatment steps like chemical exfoliation, soothing niacinamide, and brightening ingredients can elevate your skincare and address your main concerns more effectively. Many find that these additions, combined with consistency and gentle application, lead to visible improvements in redness, pore size, and acne scar appearance over several weeks.

your routine looks fantastic!!! i would suggest adding in a hydrating serum before your moisturizer just to add some extra hydration to your skin as you sleep. i'd highly suggest the byoma hydrating serum!

Your routine already looks really good and balanced. Maybe adding a gentle exfoliant once or twice a week could help a little❤️
