Is recomp worth it??
my opinion yes if you want both muscle and fat loss at the time. it does take a bit less time but it is better in the long run. now if your main concern is only losing weight then just go in a calorie deficit!
if your concern is building muscle then you’d look into surplus! but in a non weight gain way :)
From my personal experience, body recomposition can be an effective approach if you're looking to improve your overall physique without focusing solely on weight loss or muscle gain separately. In simple terms, recomp means reducing fat and increasing muscle at the same time. Unlike traditional dieting, where you either focus on cutting calories for fat loss or eating surplus for muscle gain, recomp often involves a more balanced approach with slight caloric adjustments and nutrient timing. One thing I've noticed is that recomp requires patience and consistency. It might take a bit longer to see dramatic changes compared to strict bulking or cutting phases, but the advantage is a more sustainable transformation. Managing your protein intake is crucial because adequate protein supports muscle growth even when calories are not in surplus. Also, integrating resistance training helps maximize muscle retention and growth. Additionally, recomp can be great for people who want to improve body composition without the need to go through distinct phases of weight gain and loss, which some find discouraging or difficult to manage psychologically. Tracking progress through body measurements and strength gains, instead of just scale weight, helps maintain motivation. However, for beginners or those returning after a layoff, recomp can work quite well due to the body's responsiveness to training stimulus. For advanced lifters, results might be slower, so they often opt for more defined bulking and cutting cycles. In conclusion, body recomposition is definitely worth considering if your goals include both fat loss and muscle gain, and you are willing to commit to a consistent training and nutrition routine. It offers a balanced, long-term approach, helping you avoid the extremes of just calorie deficit or surplus.
