Books to get you out of a slump! ✨

Sometimes life can become busy and stressful which for some can make reading feel like a task.

Here are some of my fav books that hooked me so good, I was completely pulled out of a reading slump! (In no particular order)

1️⃣ The Tattooist of Auschwitz x Heather Morris

🔅Genre: Historical Fiction

🔅Summary: tells the tale of Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew who becomes a tattooist at Auschwitz, where he falls in love with a fellow prisoner, Gita, and fights to keep both of them alive.

🔅Easy read, emotional, enlightening, and gripping while also being told from an actual Holocaust survivors POV.

2️⃣ Those Girls x Chevy Stevens

🔅 Genre: Thriller

🔅 Summary: sisters must fight to survive after being kidnapped and held captive in a remote location, testing the bonds of family and the resilience of the human spirit.

🔅Unputdownable, fast paced read, twist & turns, explores themes of sisterhood, resilience, and survival. **Can be triggering for some**

3️⃣ The Overnight Guest x Heather Gudenkauf

🔅 Genre: Thriller

🔅 Summary: a true crime writer staying in a remote farmhouse during a snowstorm uncovers long-buried secrets when she realizes she's not alone and that the house has a dark history connected to a missing girl.

🔅 Dual timeline with intertwining narratives, keeps you guessing until the very end, (personally) very unpredictable!

4️⃣ Red Rising x Pierce Brown

🔅 Genre: Sci-Fi / Dystopian

🔅 Summary: a young man from the lowest caste in a futuristic society infiltrates the ruling class to ignite a revolution and fight for a better future for his people.

🔅 fast-paced action, great character development, 6 book series (7th comes out in 2026), perfect for Hunger Games fans!

5️⃣ Home Before Dark x Riley Sager

🔅 Genre: Thriller

🔅 Summary: a young woman returns to the haunted house her family fled fifteen years earlier to uncover the truth about the terrifying events that drove them away and to confront the secrets lurking within its walls.

🔅 combination of thriller and haunted house vibes, explores themes of memory, trauma, and the reliability of perception, eerie and suspenseful atmosphere, you’re always guessing about the true nature of the house.

6️⃣ Drowning x T.J. Newman

🔅 Genre: Thriller/Survival

🔅 Summary: a group of people face a harrowing fight for survival when their plane crashes into the ocean, forcing them to make impossible decisions as they await rescue.

🔅 high-stakes, multiple POV, ticking clock elements leave your heart racing anticipating the end.

As you’ll notice a lot are thrillers because I personally believe they’re great for getting out of a reading slump. The typical fast-paced plots, suspenseful twists, and high stakes quickly grab your attention and keep you hooked, making it easier to get back into the habit of reading.
