college advice from a junior 🫶✨📚

here’s some things i’ve learned over my past few years living on my own!

1 - i may not be the biggest sports fan, but going to the games with my friends is something i would never trade

2 - i love using the little breaks i have between classes to sit and people watch

3 - so. many. sunset. pics.

4 - this was a free pottery class i did with a friend! our bases were absolutely terrible but it was hilarious

5 - i love to volunteer and getting all of my friends to do it with me makes it even more fun

6 - im so lucky that my family lives close (ish) to my school, so every now and then i have them come to town and spend the weekend with them! brings a little bit of home to such a new city

7 - tbh i just wanted to flex the steak, but i never realized how much fun cooking new recipes can be!

Engage in campus activities: Beyond academics, participating in clubs, sports, and community events can create lasting memories and friendships. Look for free events and workshops where you can learn new skills and hobbies. 2. Take advantage of your breaks: Use your downtime wisely by exploring different areas of campus or engaging in relaxing hobbies like sketching, reading, or even meditating in your favorite spot. 3. Capture moments: Start a photography journal documenting your college journey. Whether it's sunsets, friends, or events, capturing these moments will help you celebrate your experiences later. 4. Volunteer regularly: Getting involved in community service not only enriches your life but also allows you to meet new people who share your passions. Look for local charities or campus organizations that align with your interests. 5. Maintain family connections: Family support plays a crucial role in college life. Organize visits to strengthen those bonds and bring a sense of familiarity and comfort to the often fast-paced college environment. 6. Experiment in the kitchen: College is a great time to explore cooking. Challenge yourself to try new recipes and share the experience with friends, as cooking can be both a fun and therapeutic activity. By incorporating these tips into your routine, you'll find that your college experience can be as enriching as it is challenging, providing you with memories that last a lifetime.

Wish I had these tips during my freshman year of college. They would've been really useful. As an introvert I didn't really take in college , so I'd finish my class and go home immediately after. I wish I would've gone to one game too! Just to experience it.

i didn’t take people serious when i was told that networking will be very important during college. you need to network! you’ll probably meet a future president at your school. at every event, i made sure to have Linkedin ready to add people!
