junior software developer looking to network!!

hi everyone i’m in school for software development and looking to network with girls alike. i don’t see a lot of girls my age doing what i’m doing and i just want to be in a circle of like minded people. let’s connect on linkedin?

... Read moreHey everyone! It's been such a journey jumping into software development, and honestly, one of the biggest surprises has been realizing how much I crave a strong community. As a junior dev, sometimes it feels like I'm navigating this exciting but complex world alone, especially as a woman in a field often seen as male-dominated. That's why I posted earlier about wanting to connect with other girls alike – it’s so important to find your tribe. I've been thinking a lot about how crucial networking truly is, not just for job opportunities but for mentorship, support, and simply sharing experiences. When I first started my coding journey, I didn't fully grasp the power of connections. Now, I see it as essential. Being a 'Girl in Tech' is more than just a label; it's about being part of a growing movement, and we need to lift each other up. I've found that actively seeking out like-minded individuals can make all the difference. LinkedIn, as I mentioned, is fantastic for professional connections. But it’s also about going beyond that. One thing I've explored, and often hear great things about, are specific academies and bootcamps. While I'm still figuring out my exact path, I know programs like Cyberlab Fullstack Academy are hubs for passionate aspiring developers. Imagine the network you could build there! Even if you're not currently enrolled, many of these programs have alumni networks, online communities, or even public events that are perfect for meeting people. I'm keen to connect with anyone who's been through or is considering similar immersive programs. Beyond formal programs, look for local meetups, online forums for women in STEM, or even virtual coffee chats. Don't be shy about reaching out! I've learned that most people in tech are incredibly supportive and willing to share their insights. A great way to start a conversation is to genuinely express interest in their work or ask for advice on a challenge you're facing. Remember, networking isn't just about what others can do for you; it's about building genuine relationships and offering support in return. My ultimate goal is to create a circle where we can share resources, celebrate successes, commiserate over bugs, and inspire each other to keep pushing forward. Whether you're a seasoned developer, a fellow junior, or just curious about what it's like to be a 'Girl in Tech', let’s connect. What are your favorite ways to network in the tech world? I'd love to hear your stories and tips!
